Trying to find a job outside of the lab....it's fucking hard. I want to work at some trendy clothing store with a killer discount where all I have to do is tidy everything and tell all the girls who come in how fabulous they look, each with a unique but still feigned air of earnst.

But no. Not I have no experience. Well true I answered phones true I handle sales and true I've head projects... But hanging my LaTeXed resume to a store clerk feels fruitless. Who gives a shit if I know what an FPGA is if I haven't touched a cash register.

Fuck I just need a job. I don't believe the job application charade works... never has for me. I had to start my own fucking company to get someone [other than MIT] to hire me, and they STILL don't pay me enough.

I need an easy job that pays alot: STAT

Two things;

1. I saw that Sam had commented, but when I came in here I thought the Dog pic was part of your post, so I refreshed like 45625462 times trying to see what Sam said.

2. Remember that email I sent you? You never sent one back... *ahem*

I can't help much on the job thing. I'm all about independent business.

My friend is getting a job as a dental assistant. You don't need to be certified in my state and it pays $15/hr.

I worked at the buckle for a few months. Was fun at first, but imo retail sucks balls all around.

Anyway 40% discount on $100 Buckle jeans was well worth it...i should work there for a few months just to restock on my jeans

you could also maybe find work at phone companies doing customer service type bullshit. it's fucking awful but it's generally well paid... it's something i fell into without much experience anyhow.

tutoring can for sure be a way to make sweet money.

when I was in grade 9 I worked cash at a drugstore and then moved into cosemetics when I was in 11th grade.

When I was in university I randomly dropped off my resume at an optometrists office and then was an optometric assistant/glasses salesperson for two years. That was a fun job.

if you want to work at a clothing store, i dont think you'll have any problems....you dont need experience.

also I had no experience for any of those jobs.

Yeah, you don't need experience for retail jobs. If anything, you're overqualified for those types of jobs.

ps. you might not be finding jobs because your resume is too good. i know that i've had issues with being refused retail work and shit because i had my bfa on my resume. they'll just assume that you'll leave when something better comes along so they'll often choose not to hire someone because they're TOO qualified.
