i thought so too, but i think because it's on his back and truncated the curves play a little with the actual shape. still holding true to my same picture theory. and it's a trace. so there's nothing wrong even if it's the same exact picture. i just keep hearing how threadless wants what's "new and hip". I'd assume that doesn't include what's "LRG Spring/Fall 07".
you know what i mean. there's always the same picture of new york, chicago, etc (even if it differs for day/night/season). it is always the picture that gathers the highest number of recognizable buildings.
I see how it's based on the same PHOTO, but it hardly looks like a trace to me, just similar artist renditions of a rather famously used photo of Tokyo.
Honestly this idea is way too common/obvious to really call ANYONE on 'stealing' it. I can gaurentee this idea has been down 20 times before either of these clothing articles.
The angles are different. Look closely at building at the foreground of the jacket and the rectangle building right next to it. The threadless shirt have the rectangle building alot closer to the camera, making it the foreground building instead of just in the bg.
its alright if it comes from the same picture... they're two completely different treatments of the same subject, which is something that has been happening with artists since the dark ages. how many artists have done a version of zeus, or adam and eve? some people like one style, some like the other.
It's similar, but the angles are different, and, like others have mentioned, it's a popular photo/shot. It doesn't matter so much that the place is the same, as the artist's rendering is different, no?
That hoodie is bloody awful. Exactly the same picture though... I like this tee, but if the artist had access to/had seen that other one, it does suck a bit.
I was surprised when I see the illustration from the japanese Workbook and also this jacket form LRG (berk). I hope we'll not find a cup of tea, a pair of pyjamas, or film poster with this photo!
I worked about ten hours about this design on a pixel software, Photoshop, I didn't vectorize anything caus I wanted to create a real original hand-writing style.
And maybe it's for this reason the final picture has been appreciated.
So please again: Don't take me for a plagiarist and respect my work. Thanks.
