This shirt reminds me of my old Less than Jake t shirt. I couldn't find a picture of the design on the web and don't have a digital camera so for those of you who don't know what i am talking about will have to bear with me.

The shirts are not nearly the exact same but use the same concept in a very similar style and layout. A kid with x ray glasses looking through the girls dress. They both have the lines from the eyes to the girl revealing her silhouette. While the threadless post is more detailed they are uncannily similar. It's a great shirt and it was well done. However, as it was done before.. and essentially in the same fashion.

I don't know exactly what i am trying to do/say with this post; mostly I just hope to call attention to the similarities and see what others think about them. I am not in any way trying to call the artist a theif or anything else for that matter. I just want to know if others feel like they too close for comfort or is the a new and therefore acceptable use of an old funny joke?

well all i have to say about this is, to my personal opinion everything is invented now, and it sure exists what i called "crossed ideas", i can tell you i didnt know about the existence of this design before or never seen it as you say, but sure it has happened to a lot of people before, or when you do something and then someone posts it first...well my point is i think these things can happened and will happen to anyone, but as to me i feel honest that its something i thought about and made myself...sorry to say i didn't copy. Thanks for the concern though.

The concept is certianly NOT original to Less than Jake. It's a kitchy retro image that is as old as X-ray glasses themselves. In fact, if you google image "x-ray glasses," you'll find old packaging that has images almost identical to the Less than Jake shirt you're referring to. There's nothing new under the sun, as they say, and that includes the idea of a man/boy checking out a woman with X-ray glasses.

I like this shirt. Definately reinvention.

you might as well say that ALIADOTONY stole the idea from the inventor of novelty x-ray glasses...

and, besides, this one's 10 times better than the Less Than Jake shirt.

almost every concept imaginable has been done before at some stage in the last 60 years...

especially one that is significantly different. This wouldn't even pass as IP infringement in the overly strict U.S. courts.

Thieves everywhere I tell ya...

I would say about 1/3 of the tshirts on here are knock offs of other tshirts or artwork you can find on the net.

But I don't think it's stealing...because all artists are thieves, it's just the way it is....

But there is a line that you don't want to cross and I think everyone knows what I am talkin about Willis...Whoops, see there, I just stole that line....We are all guilty! SHAME, SHAME, SHAME I TELL YA!

I've got the LTJ shirt as well, but obviously this idea has been done many times and isn't original to LTJ. I really like this design.

first of all, ska will never die. it does hibernate tho. and 2, this one is vastly diff. than the LTJ shirt, so i don't think its copying, its a diff. execution along the same vein.

I am most definitely here. But, I suppose that there would be equally adequate. What do you think?
