Jared,

HEY DUDE

Intaglio is going quite well... I have been accumulating and working here and there. I got a hundred year old lions head embosser this week and I am making a custom brass seal for a chop.
But I am super happy with the results i am getting. right now I am testing a pack of various intaglio papers to really figure out the ones I like best for my first edition. then I am going to overhaul and cast off my old website (archive it or whatever) and start fresh with my intaglio efforts. my goal is to make an edition every couple months or so, linking them together creatively. I am trying to mesh my desire to tell a story into the whole process.

It is all super exciting and pretty much what I go to bed thinking about.

Joe,

That is awesome to hear! I am glad you are still really excited by intaglio and that whole process. I have said it before, but it is such a rewarding experience producing art in that fashion. I look forward to seeing your site overhaul and watching your creative process as you crank out these editions.

So what exactly is a "lions head embosser"? Is it a particular brand or something? Or is it literally an embosser with like a gold lions head on it or something? That's what I imagined in my head ;)

Also, I used to be the same way where I would go to sleep thinking about intaglio and new ways to make marks, etc... So cool to hear that you have that same excitement. I really need to find somewhere around here where I can get back into things. I probably just need to enroll in a course or something to get access to all the equipment.

Anyway, just glad to hear you're still doing it!

it's literally a lions head :)

it makes a 2" embossed seal - I am making a custom seal for my prints to give it "class"

My family is so tired of me talking about intaglio - i am boring them to death with it all. But at this point I am in the planning and development of the shipping method - I want to make custom flat shipping boxes and I want to figure out how to print on them - make them super cool once I figure out all the nuts and bolts I plan on having a pretty slick operation - all hand pulled and tons of attention to detail

after some prodding from my wife, I reached out to a relatively local university professor in printmaking - he is an intaglio specialist and I am planning on working a bit with him to learn some more. as I am totally winging it (cart before the horse so to speak) but It is purely for personal satisfaction so it's not like i have any expectations.

ultimately I would like to get skilled and confident enough in the process that I can involve some of my pals (like YOU) to do some featured editions where I take the illo or whatever and do my thing on the plates, where I wouldn't necessarily be just the printmaker but also a collaborator due to the "plate interpretation" or process of it all - even though it would be awesome to actually work with someone but I am a million miles from everyone
