Just bored, thought I'd start a topic. So, any of you art students? What school(s) are you going to, and what classes are you taking or what are you majoring in?

I'll be starting at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia, in two weeks.
I plan to major in Digital Photography, and minor in New Media Art.

I just finished my BFA in Fine Art (focus on drawing and printmaking) with a double major of Art History from University of Wisconsin-Madison. I'm staying here for my MA because we're #1 in prinmaking and I LOVE it here!!!

hey, nice! i was BFA with focus on painting and printmaking. (not at University of Wisconsin-Madison)

what kinda prints?
ConcreteEvolution
ConcreteEvolution on Aug 25 '06 at 2:19pm
I do a lot of 20 color reduction screenprints using screenfiller/drawing fluid. I try to stick to non-toxic printmaking (for my health and the environment- especially because I make all enviro-themed work). I do engravings, woodcuts, and am staring to get into litho.

what about you?
corey8
corey8 on Aug 25 '06 at 2:27pm
alot of the same, though i havent done much printing lately. when i was in school i did alot of stone lithography, etching, hand-cut film screen printing.

20 color - seriously? wow! they must be very detailed yes?

Mezo: Yeah, I drive through Birmingham sometimes, when I go to see relatives in Memphis.

Stevethegreat: They have excellent darkroom facilities, the building dedicated to photography is AWESOME. Let me find a link.

and here's a description of their photography program:

All of SCAD's facilities are in renovated buildings in/around downtown Savannah.

Yeah, we should def. know each other! It always seems like the art department is so small, but in reality it is a huge abyss... something like 400 art majors + 100 or so grads.

I'm always in the print studios, you should drop by sometime :)

btw, I love your work! Are you going to have a BFA show? If so, let me know. I'd love to see it!
sonmi
   sonmi on Aug 25 '06 at 5:02pm
thanks! i haven't applied for a BFA show... i'm not sure what the deadline is for it, or if i've missed it!

i'm taking print production techniques this semester, so i'll probably be around the studios more. yes, perhaps i will see you around :)
