This design really irks me, which probably makes the designer pop a chubby, because he takes that to mean it's "controversial"

It's not controversial, it's a bright spotlight on his inability to either

1) Do 5 minutes of research on the topic he's blathering about (and by research, I mean Google)

or

2) Understand statistics

Or both. Hell, he could be a multi-tasking lazy fuck.

As I stated in my comments, complaining that the average person has an IQ of 100 is remarkably stupid. Pretending that you're making social commentary on American stupidity by saying we're an (insignificant) 2 points below the average is just ridiculous. Why is it remarkably stupid to complain that the average person has an IQ of 100? Because 100 is CHOSEN as the midpoint. It's like complaining that half of people are below average drivers.

Now, dear reader, if you were formerly unaware of this fact about IQ points and wonder to yourself if I would invoke ire and vitriol at your ignorance, let me reassure you that this is not the case. IQ scores are generally a complete waste of time. They are an antiquated system that currently only serves to stroke the egos of intellectuals who have nothing else to show for their self-worth. I don't care if you don't know the inner workings of this stupid system. This is because most of you aren't making moronic shirts based on IQ points.

If you're going to make a bold statement on a shirt, wouldn't you want to check that you're not making yourself look like a complete idiot to those who are in the know? I mean, completely forget about the irony of looking stupid by dissing those who are "dumber" than you. Why don't people check their facts?

I am all for controversy and attacking the foundations of the status quo. Bold statements are required, but god dammit, if we don't do a little bit of fact-checking and understanding, we just look like a bunch of self-important blowhards. What good is breaking down foundations of misrepresentation and laziness if we're only going to replace them with the same damn towers of idiocy with a fresh coat of paint. (OMG, these towers are in magenta. Magenta is totally the new chartreuse!)

So, next time you make a bold statement, quiet your bombastic ego for 10 seconds and make sure that you aren't making a total ass of yourself. Please.

J-Ray: There is no controversy, the t-shirt fails on all accounts, spectacularly

That's hilarious. 2 whole points! Shows you can have a high IQ and know nothing of statistics.

are you just angry because you secretly have an IQ of 98?

Jebbie: Directed at the designer, not you. I wrote a comment earlier about how his problem with the average person having an IQ of 100 is laughable, since it's defined to be the average. And he stated again how it bothered him.

And IQ isn't the only meaningless measurement, to be sure.

TravisT: Who ARE you and why haven't i seen your brando f spitfire for ridiculous reasons before on this site? A little overstated, but good show.

frickenawesome: after putting up a design making (what I thought to be) a blatant statement about how Che Guevara's face has become a commodity, and then having half the comments say, "Che is overplayed man, I'd never buy a shirt with his face on it" I had an irony overload and I needed to take a break for a while.

And now I'm in grad school, so I just hate the world.
