Question.

Do books in print form have a future?

What about magazines?

Seriously I'm drawing a blank here because the pro internet side of me wants to argue that print is just an inefficient method of transferring ideas from one individual to another and that my sentimentality towards the medium is solely based on the fact that I was born into a pre-internet world where print has been the dominant format and technology is only just starting to catch up.

But on the other hand, I really like print and the idea of not having a bookcase full of the most amazing collection of images an ideas is a little disgusting (though please, please never buy me a coffee table book, their such a waste of space) and if I had a house I'd totally do this:

i was tripping on an idea that i can't get outta my brain; the internet will NOT be here forever.

and so, in summation, books and (GASP, the spoken word) will resume the centuries old tradition of passing down information from face to face, mouth to ear, generation to generation.

i enjoy the internet. but i see it for what it is and it relies on a third party and even fourth party (computers and Electricity)...
unless someone creates a sustainble N box for everyone I just don't see it lasting longer than our oil supplies.

Check out Saturday's Culture Show. There is a piece about the resurgence of the political pamphlet which raises some interesting points about print as a medium.
