Hey guys so I'm kind of confused, I'm trying to work out what the minimum wage is in London but I'm getting mixed messages.

I've been able to find figures for the national minimum wage (£5.93) but I keep coming across something called the London living wage £8.30 per hour but I also found articles saying that it cant be enforced.

So is my wage actually going to be higher than minimum wage? I might have found a retail job with the largest book chains in the country, I'm just confused.

If you guys could shine any light on it, that would be appreciated.

thanks

Phil

I would suggest you ask them.

There is a thing called London weighting/living allowance, which is to recognise that it's more expensive to live here. I would think if it is a big national chain, that they probably do aplpy it, but I honestly couldn't be sure.

it's not a legally binding thing. i think it's something that the unions try and push

fair enough, basically the situation is that if I get the job I'll be working 14 hours a week which isnt enough to run a flat but my parents have offered to help me out, depending on how much they'll actually have to pay so I'm basically trying to work out if I can actually afford to take the job.

The idea is that if I have this part time job it can help me get started and I can go for film and tv industry jobs when I'm not working.

But like I said I'm trying to work out how much money I'll actually have.

I cant ask them because I've already done a phone interview and their drawing up a shortlist right now, until I get called down for an interview I wont find out what the pay is.

If you operate out of the same flat as another hooker, it will be deemed a brothel and you'll be breaking the law.

This blog took a strange an unexpected turn.

I did read that hookers are starting to use social media to advertise their um business, check on clients and avoid the police.

Whsmiths, waterloo station.

I've worked for smiths for about 4 years on at home so I've done every job they have so I'm in with a chance of getting it.
