Hey guys so I was wondering if you guys could help me out?

I'm writing a pitch for a TV about a group of programmers who found a tech start up, the idea behind the show is to explore the tech world and all the rediclous things that happen in it (but highly exaggerated).

for example in one episode the guys build a social network where the users upload all of their personal information including national insurance number, birth certificate, phone number and bank details.

In another episode I want the guys to brain storm app idea's that are all completely terrible such as 'am I alive?' or 'what colour is this', 'is my phone charged?'

I was wondering if you guys could come up with some equally terrible/even worse apps that the programmers could build in the show?

thanks

Phil

to be honest I'm probably focusing too much on the minor details rather than bigger stuff I need to work out, like creating characters.

Its just this is part of an application for an event organised by the biggest media companies in the UK/world, they get about 4000 people applying each year with just 65 places, if I get on this program it'll mean I'm one of the best young creatives in the country and will more than likely get me a job.

The problem is I'm really not that much of a writer so this is stressing me out a little.

Yeah writing is really hard, especially comedy and when you're writing something like a television show. You have to appeal to a lot of people and be entertaining and stuff too.

As for apps, I really don't know much about them. How about an app that tells you if an androgynous person is either a woman that looks like Justin Bieber or just an actual boy. Used by men who want to make sure they are hitting on the right gender. Maybe they actually meet Justin Bieber. Hilarity ensues somehow?

Yeah this is especially tough because I'm limited to 300 words but I also have to talk about demographics the talent attached to the project and the distribution plan , so the story side needs to be fairly short and too the point.

This is what I have so far:

'The Start-Up' is a sitcom about Matt Crowely (Rusell Howard) a hyper active constantly optimistic, talented programmer and his friends Gurpreet 'Gurpy' Macwan perpetually relaxed hacker most famous for his work with Wikileaks and Jack Beard an obsessive compulsive worrier working as a security annalist for the finance sector.

After events involving a bottle of whiskey, an all night coding spree and fireworks the guys decide its time to start their own company. Inspired by success stories like Facebooks valuation of $50 billion and Zynga, the company that produces farmville's $10 billion, the friends ask 'just how tough could it be?'

Set in the heart of London’s emerging 'Silicon Roundabout' the show will revolve around the challenges of founding a company, developing products, building an audience and getting an investment.

Also the app idea's are great/bad, Leon the Mirror app is a genuine 100% real app...

will these guys pull any ridiculous stunts to raise brand awareness? i can see them attempting viral videos and jackass styled antics. just picture Matt convincing Gurpy to jump a burning office chair over a bus for the sake of the exposure.
and the punchline could be something unrelated and embarassing that goes viral instead, making fools of them.
comedy.

Contact Roulette - Randomly remove a person from your contacts list. (although it is a bit fun to do that when you're trying to prune down a bloated Facebook friends list)

Someone's Drunk in the Kitchen - Mixes and matches recipe ingredients and amounts. 1/2 lb chicken, 2 cups flour, and a pinch of salt or a pinch of chicken, 1/2 lb flour and 2 cups of salt.

Five O'Clock Somewhere - Only 10:17am and you need a cold one? Lets you know where in the world its societally acceptable to be drinking so you can have a cheers to them.
