I really wouldn't say that's any better than Rebecca Black. Ke$ha's lyrics are just as ridiculous. And really, I think if Rebbecca Black had an actual producer and real record deal before she came out with her song there would have been tons of people actually liking it. It's not like the songs done by the Black Eyed Peas or Rihanna are any better, but they have an entire (legitimate) company working behind the scenes to make their music more appealing and to mask the silly lyrics.
Not that liking Ke$ha is a bad thing or anything. Everyone is allowed to like what they want and I definitely have my guilty pleasure songs too, but I think it's a little unfair to criticize Rebecca Black's song so harshly when there are plenty of other songs on the radio that I would put in the same category. Major record companies can make most lyrics sound good once they put in the money to create appealing and catchy music to go with it.
Like, last night I came across this classical cover of Rihanna's "Rude Boy" and it's pretty fantastic.
I don't like Rihanna's voice or her lyrics, but I think it goes to show how once you can create a good foundation of the stripped down music to go with the lyrics the majority of the people are going to enjoy it.
It's not terrible. I've heard waaaay worse. She has a distinctive style. But c'mon, there are assloads of bands who sound like shit outside of the studio.
