I really need to work on my blog titles, they suck.

Anyho, moving on I like clothes but recently I've been stuck in clothes rut that I'm trying to get out of (Jeans, tee shirt, hoodie), I've been starting to vary my wardrobe with adventurous/mature look.

I hate to admit it but I'm kind of a sucker for a good brand, which may or may not be indicitive of my personalitiy.

Anyway I was wondering what your favourite brands are?

Right now I'm a big fan of:

Jack Wills

superdry

white stuff

(serriously, they make the nicest hoodis ever that are super high quality)

fat face

and though I hate to admit it, I quite like Polo/ralph lauren (Havent bought anything yet).

I like Levis and BDG for jeans/casual pants.

I'm not really sure where I get all of my button-up shirts. A lot of them I've just had or been given from my dad or brother. A few are from H&M. The one white shirt I wear the most is actually a really old Hollister shirt, which I'm not proud of but a friend gave it to me....five(?) years or so ago and it fits me great and as long as I cover the logo with a button or vest or pin, it's fine.

Topman is great, too. If I had some inexhaustible amount of income, I could see myself buying a lot of clothing from Topman. For now, I just have to wait for sales.

I don't have any.

And yeah, I hear ya about the more mature look. In the past year or so, I've been changing my image from jeans and a t-shirt to something a little more refined, I suppose?

I just didn't like how homogeneous I looked, and I don't mean compared to other people. I just mean I only have one pair of jeans and a bunch of t-shirts, so I'd inevitably look like I'm wearing the same thing. Every. Single. Day.

As much as I like topman, I'm a little on the large size for their clothes and I do feel like their aimed at a slightly younger age group than myself.

Plus topman tends to be throw away fashion where as I prefer to buy something that will last a long time but the problem with that is they cost a lot more money, my last pair of jeans cost £70, a hoodie was about £40 and a button up shirt £50.

Its worth it but it means I can only buy a few items of clothing a year.

Hollisters kind of got big over here in recent years... I'm not a fan but hey if its a good fit awesome.

Yeah, I mean theres nothing wrong with that look but I've been wearing it pretty much without change since I was 16, I'm 23 now its time to shake things up a little.

I got a button up shirt (really nice fit) with a red cardigan to go with a pair of jeans. I had an awesome tie to go with it but decided to return it cause I felt I couldnt afford it at the time.

regret that so badly cause I cant find a tie to go with it.

Yeah, Topman definitely runs a little small in sizing, but I'm a pretty small guy. I actually can't find anything in most American stores that doesn't look baggy on me.

And I don't know about throw away fashion. I mean, "fashion" is constantly evolving, but I don't think a clean shirt and a good pair of slacks will ever go out of fashion.

And younger age group? Man, you're only a year older than I am!

I just got a bunch of new business gear for the school year. So nice to be wearing the smaller sizes this time around. I like Van Hussen fitted/tailored shirts, and my mom got a me few professorial looking tweed jackets that I'm really digging.

Well by throw away fashion what I mean is that stores like topman change their stock every two weeks, each time trying to achieve a new look.

The idea is that the clothes are cheap, you wear them a few times then throw them away.

Its really bad from an enviromental stand point but it means you have a constantly changing wardrobe.

As for the age group thing, I dont know I feel like topman has a different image over here then it does it in the states, its a younger look.

Matt, I'd really love to rock a tweed jacket and a tailored shirt sounds awesome.

if you're looking for quality then primark is definitely the place to go.

That doesn't exist in America.

I wish I could afford good clothes like that. I keep feeling like I need a whole new wardrobe, I'm kind of sick of threadless tees (:o)

Tees and jeans and hoodies, that's basically all I wear. Occasionally a button-up shirt, usually striped and maybe a skinny tie. I need to buy a nice suit though because there's an increasing number of occasions when I shouldn't look like the aging hipster that I am.

I recently bought some fitted dress shirts from Express; I really like how they fit. My size is in between small and medium, so most tops look either too tight or loose on me. But their shirts made me look handsome and stuff.

I got a week's worth on v-necks from Pac-Sun. I really like the "On the Byas" brand. They don't place logo their shirts, their very lightweight (maybe just really cheap), and they have a subtle vintage quality to them.

I mainly buy jeans on clearance from Macy's, or hit up the Gap.

I also got a few Threadless shirts. Hafaell's work is amazing. I may post some pics of them on my profile.

lol, primark is incredibly cheap but the clothes fall apart within five minutes.

I think for girls its pretty awesome if your the type of person that changes your wardrobe pretty much on a weekly basis but dont expect it to last long.

Steve, I really cant afford the clothes, it usually means putting in extra hours at work or occasionally my parents are nice and buy me a couple of items.

I'm looking forward to having a job where I can actually afford nice things and save money.

As for threadless tee's I havent bought any in a while, theres just so many out that it really has to impress me for me to actually buy it.

Jeff, Club Monaco looks amazing, is it expensive?

Morkki, growing up sucks.

xiv, see I dont even think about shoes but they do look nice.

DAM, express shirts look pretty fancy, I dont think they'd actually suit me, atleast the dress shirts wouldnt.

As for jeans, the last pair I bought was from jack wills, technically I'm a little short for them (they dont make any for my length of leg) but their a nice fit.

But I mainly buy levi's.

Your back in america then? that sucks, we never quite got around to hanging out.

Did you have a good time?

And yeah, its insanely cheap, having said that everything in the UK is stupidly expensive and more and more are wages dont match the cost.

yeah, good thing we'll get a second chance in chicago!

i had a great time. kind of wish i was able to go for a full year, or another semester somewhere else as well.

Your going to chicago? sweet, we shall hang out.

I think you either love exchange programs or hate it, I loved it out in canada to the point where I went back for a second time and I'm trying to move out there.

My big worry about doing a year is that its a very long time, I didnt really get homesick in the 4 month period because I knew it was going to be over soon so I best make the most of it, but a years different.

jet approves on Aug 28 '10 at 7:45pm
i still haven't met anyone who has hated exchange, although i'm sure some weirdos out there exist haha. it was the best semester i've had in school.

i think that i'd be okay with a year. i don't get super homesick, but i think it would help having people visit or going home for christmas in between. the biggest thing is the expense. so much money to be away for a year.
stubby43
stubby43 on Aug 28 '10 at 8:07pm
I've only ever met one person who hated it, she decided within the first two weeks that she hated it and flew home.

I think I can manage a whole year if I was going home for christmas, but yeah its the money, for me personally that would add another £700 to the bill.

It wouldnt be too bad when I'm living out their permantly and have a job, it'll just be part of my yearly budget.
