So right now I have two joe jobs, where I earn about £700 a month (but only because its the build up to the christmas rush), I've just graduated from university and I've been trying to figure out what to do with my life, which comes down to get a job in film over here, start a company or imigrate to canada.

They've all been bouncing from not very likely to this is what I'm going to do.

Anyway I was working on the assumption that if I was imigrating to canada it would be september next year but now theres a small possibility it'll happen in march.

I have been spending most of my wages (by accident, I havent been very controlled with my spending, plus I was in debt to begin with) so I have nothing saved, I'm still £500 into my over draft (yes I'm an idiot) and now suddenly I might be in canada in three months.

At best I can save £2000 which will be enough to cover the flights.

Sweet nibblets.

Why would you have to move in March and not later?

If opportunity knocking is the reason you have to go in March - do it. Sell as much shit as possible to fund it. You're 22, you have nothing to lose.

What Garo said. I know it's not as far away but to fund my move here I sold my entire CD collection, half of my clothes and a fuckload of other stuff I didn't need. I also cut down on spending, and lived with my folks for 3 months prior to my move (although that wasn't a choice as it was post back surgery). If you realise you're not controlling your expenditure, then you only have yourself to blame. Knuckle down and get saving,

Also theres a job availble at the university (part of the management team at the bookstore) where I'd be perfectly suited for it but I dont have the right experience to do the job.

heres the stupid thing, I got offered an assistant mangers possition and turned it down, because I thought I might get complacent and not imigrate.

well thats kinda far away - besides, I would not wish crab fishing up here this time of year on my worse enemy.

Sorry was helping my mum un pack food.

The reason why I might be going over in march is because I have a couple of friends who are living in a house their parents own and their room mate might be moving out in december.

Because of the visa situation I wont be able to get out there until march (applications open in december and they take 8 weeks to proccess, so the earliest is mid feburary but I might as well finish the month up).

As for selling stuff I dont have a lot to sell and I doubt its worth much but I could try that option.

To be honest I'm kind of hoping I can make it out in september, it would be a lot easier to cope.

I only have myself to blame for the situation I'm in, I'm just not sure how to get out of it.

make an outline/plan for what you want to do.

start saving, sell, cut back, and decide what goals you want to reach and when you want to reach them and what you'll need to move to Canada and be secure!

If he might be moving out, wait. You'll want to be totally sure before you commit to something like this.

Yeah I know, which is why I dont want to get that excited about it, also I havent actually talked to the friends who own the house yet another close friend of ours who lives out their got offered a spot in the house but he said he'd be willing to give it up if it meant I got to come out there again.

Theres other possibilities that might work out better, its just this is the closest and I really hate my life at the moment.

I really hate my life at the moment.

This is key. At least start to save money so even if you don't go to Canada, you can do something different next year. And I'd aim for March. Work and save like the wind with that goal in mind. Even if it doesn't happen in March, by then at least you'll be on track.

I've just got back from work but so I'm going about a thousand miles an hour at the moment (serriously I pulled the products forward on every isle in the store in 20 minutes, this normally takes two people, two hours to do) but I'm going to aim for march.

I think I mentioned it before but I'm going to go for the store management position over at the university bookstore, the worst they can say is no/nothing at all and if I get it says the salary is between $44,237 - $57,775 anually so it would make my life a billion times easier.

the only problem is I dont have management experience, I mean I've managed film projects but never in a store (though for all intents and purposes I am a manager on a saturday at my bookstore job).

the other skill that I'm not sure how to demonstrate is 'marketing experience'.

I've done the rest, or I can probably get some experience doing it pretty quickly.

the job
