I do kind of feel that theres less to work with theses days because a lot of the designs from that period were joke tee's and that isnt threadless's style right now but I dont know the new ones just arent the same.

p.s

Heres a link to all the really old school photos:

there are a lot of photos, right up to the modern day tee's but right down at the bottom is the classics

I miss them too. But someone decided they have to make the picture all about the t-shirt and not all the other crazy crap going on in the background. They still print a lot of funny shirts though. They could still do plenty of fun shoots for those and leave the "arty" ones as they do now. But there's some great arty shots too.

On that Festa pic, it looks like he's incapable of growing a full and luscious beard. The stubble looks patchy at best. I guess there's hope for us all.

It kinda shows the evolution of threadless from a small company doing everything themselves to a larger, more professional outfit with the need of professional photographers.

I'd suggest that the old style threadless is also what you're nostalgic for, stubby.

I actually like the middle of the Threadless life cycle pics the best, done with that photographer that made all the awesome photohaused pics like the sock monkey fight and Jef's gold teethed messy face ones and etc.

But these are fun too!

I guess, I mean when I look back through my collection of old threadless tee's theres a lot I wouldnt wear any more but I think the reason I fell in love with threadless (tee's, community and the company) was because they were different, I've always loved the fact that threadless doesnt use models for the product shots they used their staff.

I like the fact that everyones normal, now I'm not saying they've stopped using their staff for the product shots because they havent but the other thing I liked about the old product shots was that it wasnt all just about the tee shirts.

When you look at these shots its a group of friends having fun, I dont really get that feeling when I look at the new ones.

I hear what you're saying stubby, but the staff still is in some of the photos for designs and I like that it's all still friends of Threadless folk and a bigger cast of Threadless workers getting in on the fun. I kinda like a more professional look to my photos along with the artsiness, hence why i like that old photographer who put the extra mile and more into his shots before the new guy (who is still good and getting the hang of conceptual photos) came in the last year. But i guess i fell in love with the site for different reasons than you, it was just finding a place with incredibly intelligent t-shirt designs that weren't based off bodily functions and etc at affordable prices was got me first....then I noticed how cool the staff and blogs were a bit later.

Some of them have a bit of character, still, and it's probably more appropriate for their now-wider market. Do they still display the pics on the product page?

I'm not suggesting that threadless is using models, I love the fact that they just use the staff and friends, I also realise that the line up is obviously going to change over time, its just right now it seems like they line up against a wall take a photo then their done.

I'm pretty sure your talking about Paul Octavious I love his work, I wish he was still with the company.

Hois flickr

I think the reason we fell in love with the site for different reasons is because we joined at different times (I had an earlier account before this one) I joined in 05 and it was really different back then, it was around that time they were having to move offices every year to cope with the growth but they still had that small company feel.

Maybe thats lost now?
