So I finally got off my arse and decided I really need to learn how to build a website and its going ok, I'm using two for dummies books on the subject and I'm finding that I'm actually quite familar with the very basic html.

But anyway, I was wondering what program do you guys edit your code in?

Both the dummies books said that dreamweaver and the micrsoft program seem like a good idea but in many ways they actually make the coding harder.

I've been using note pad but I dont think its advanced enough to do everything (espcially when I start using php).

Any suggestions?

do not do a flash site.
The majority of those are absolute crap and super obnoxious.

To be honest I'm really not into flash, besides all I'm building right now is a portfolio site with an intergrated blog (yeah I know its harder than it sounds).

I just want to keep it simple.

thanks for the tips.
