This evening I went out to see district 9 with a couple of friends of mine (second best film I've seen this year, number one is star trek) but it was the coming home that was well, eventful.

I'm still in shock and I dont really know what to write but we were dring down long winding country roads in the pitch black, coming up over a slight hill and

I ran over a badger.

I didnt kill it, it was already lieing dead in the road and I managed to swerve out of the way so the front tire took the brunt of the hit (the cars fine) but that has to be one of the worst sounds i've ever heard, the crunching of the bones is horrible.

....

Then about a mile down the road we saw a police car that was slowing down and signalling that it was pulling over, I was still in shock and running on adrenalin so I was kind of confused as to what I was supposed to be doing.

Do I pull over? but I cant its a country road I might cause a crash if I do and the sierens arent on so their not pulling me over.

Anyway they were pulling up at a house so we drove past but then a little bit further down the road another police car comes hurtleing down the road sirens going.

Something big was going down at that house.

I'm having trouble taking all this in.

oh man, one time I ran over a squirrel and I was seriously so mad about it. I was cursing at the squirrel for like 15 minutes. I feel so wierd about saying that, like it's a joke, but I as legitimately upset.

Dude badgers a about the biggest wild animal we have on our roads, its late and british country roads are kind of scary to drive on.

Country roads are usually only wide enough for one car to drive down, if you go past another car you have to slow down or even stop to get past.

Plus this bit of road had tree's either side so a crash would have been bad.

Also it was only 20 minutes ago.

I'm calming down now but yeah it was pretty bad, I'm also fairly certain I ran over its head.

i mean i guess if you're really sensitive about dead animals it could be like saddening but the whole police thing isn't very crazy at all.

I dont think I've been mad at the thing I've run over my reaction has always been to freak a little.

I hit a bird on my first driving lesson, we were driving down a by pass going at 60 mph, it flew into my window that scared the life out of me.

My family hasnt been having much luck with this car and animals, my mum ran over a cat a while back.

I was more in shock that I actually hit something, I'm not bothered its dead badgers a pretty violent creatures.

As for the police thing, I didnt describe it all that well and I guess its a you had to be there kind of deal.

Leon thats intense, I dont think I'd of pulled over myself.

I'm not manly.

anything that isnt a pet/big enough to damage your car is funny to run over, once compleetly anihilated a pidgeon the feather went everywhere at about 60 mph only for it to fly off after wards crazy thing, also seeing a pidgeon fly out from underneath a moving car kinda mid being run over, I was quite impressed

I'm guessing you have a truck? I know I'll probably never need one because I'll most likely be living in a city but I have to admit the idea of having a huge truck appeals to me.

I ran over a huge black snake once. I thought it was just a joint in the pavement until I was right on top of it. Then I looked back in the mirror and saw this long black thing leap off the ground and start wildly thrashing around. It would have been hilarious if it hadn't been so sad.
