Threadless

stubby43
stubby43 aka Phil is a 25.42 year old boy, has been a member since December 22, 2006, has scored 3,809 submissions, giving an average score of 2.65, helping 191 designs get printed.
A couple of days ago somebody mentioned that keyboard cat moon was one of a string of major events that have happened over the course of the history of threadless and it got me thinking, should we be chronicaling the major events?

So I decided to write a threadhistory, if anyone wants to help write entries (or improve this one, right now I'd call the first entry a draft) please do so.

P.S I'm aiming for neutrality, I'm trying to write it like a wikipedia article.

Thanks

Phil

Three Keyboard Cat Moon - Threadless T-shirts, Nude No More

Three keyboard Cat Moon was a design submitted by Oxen which broke threadless records achieving the highest voting average on the sites history, earning a Final average score of 4.48 out of 5, most votes ever 3,791, most I'd buys ever and was the first tee shirt to be it should be noted that the design finished early. (printed 21/07/09)

The design was based off two popular internet memes Play him off cat and Amazon three wolves shirt

The design rapidly became popular on the wider internet, earning a total of 3585 diggs on the popular social news site digg.com

The design caused controversy because it was the first design to be promoted by threadless, which was done so on the company's facebook page, twitter accounts and boing boing.com the popular web blog.

Skaw, the sites founder opened up a debate to discuss how threadless could:

print designs quickly and promote designs fairly.

I believe there has been at least one other design in the past that was notified of winning before scoring finished. Although I can't remember which one/s they were.

Right now I'm going with the word of God a.k.a the thread news blog said it was the first until the other design is found.

I'm sort of thinking chronically everything thats happened already is way too big of a job for me to do, so keyboard cat might have to be year one.

Ok I have three entries done, I might do some more from the thread past but I think I might just stick to doing events as they happen.

I dont really have the time to go through all of those major events.

... I dont know, I'm lazy.

I guess there isnt really a time frame on doing the history stuff as long as I cover the major events when they happen.

On a related note, even if the entries are short its still going to end up being a very long blog post, any ideas on how to solve that problem?

I've no idea, I'd really like it to be a mix of things but I'm really interested in the community stuff more than the buisness things.

Also I was thinking of setting up a wiki, (like wikipedia) so that other people could add articles and edit them.

The problem is I dont have the money to buy a license which would cost either $50 or $400 wiki web

Chronicaling the history of threadless is a massive job and I honnestly dont think I can do it on my own, would anyone be up for helping out?

All you'd have to do is add a little bit here and there, even if its just creating an article you think is important to discuss.

Stubby:

I was thinking that it could be a series of blog posts. Each post would be a seperate "article," and they would all be indexed in (yet another) post. So the one main blog would serve as an index page with a bunch of links, and each link would go to an article written by...well, by whomever.

So there would be a main blog titled (for example) "Threadless History Book," and then several other posts (contributed by anyone who felt they had expertise on the subject) that would be titled things like "[THB] The STP Scandal" or "[THB] The Killing Tree."

Something like that.

I'd write more, but that would cause me to miss my bus, and that would cause me to be stranded downtown for another half hour.

So, so sorry mismo I went to see harry potter so I didnt have time to get back to you.

Thats a far better way of doing things, maybe this blog needs to be a discussion blog for how the project works, then we have the history book plus the articles.
