This is absolutley insane

I had no idea a youtube clip could pay this well, its a shame Susan is unlikely to be entitled to a share of the profits (ITV owns the show and therefore the content) but with a bit of luck and a lawyer with half a brain she might get a bit of a pay day.

"what deal Cowell, a judge and producer of the show, and his label, Sony/BMG have with YouTube as part of their revenue-sharing deal. If it's half a cent per play — a typical figure for such deals — that would translate into a $500,000 payday so far. And if Google sold a decent amount of video overlays on the video (earning an estimated $20 per thousand views), Cowell and company could be owed millions more in revenue sharing."

the unlikely event you havent seen it

meh, I was impressed at first and then I acknowledged the fact that it was probably a publicity stunt from the beginning anyway.

Thusly I am no longer impressed.

I highly doubt it was a publicity stunt, the program is owned by ITV, ITV's been lacking talent for a long time, its been on the verge of collapse for a while and its average audience age is over 50's. Their few forrays into new media have been complete failures (friends reunited for example), theres very few web savy people at that company and the ones that are, well their low ranking.

Even if it is a publicity stunt it doesnt really matter, you cant force 100 million people to watch a video, talk about it on blogs or on twitter. No marketing company is that good.

That guy Fred on youtube has probably made over a million dollars...youtube partners get like $2.50 for every thousand views. My friend is a youtube partner but she doesn't get that many views.

I've never understood why people like Fred he's kind of annoying.

I'd love to be a youtube partner but its alot of work building up an audience and getting repeat viewings.

I think it is almost more impressive that it's obviously somewhat staged / highly produced.

The Britain's Got Talent videos have dominated youtube's front pages partly because they're so well edited and 'tell a story' in 60 seconds.

So I say more power to them.
