crap.

So I'm trying to immigrate to canada and I thought I had a soild plan that would get me into the country for three years then permenant residence but that went out of the window.

I'm trying to apply under a program called the canadian experience class which requires you to have studied at a canadian university for two years and had one year work experience as a skilled proffessional.

So I was going to transfer schools, finish two years then get a job with the company I did an internship with (I'd be getting a working holiday visa) and then I'd be able to apply.

The only problem is that I need a loan to pay for my education, so I rang up the student finance company (the body that gives out loans in the uk) and asked if they could and they basically told me no.

If I'd of dropped out of university in my second year and transfered it would of been a yes but the loans work on a 3 plus 1 system which means you get the standard three years of loans and one year extra (usually used for masters).

Everythings going wrong.

Anybody want to get married so I can have a visa?

Well I wasnt really looking for american citzenship but what the hell why not.

Actually its not that bad, its just that my best option has disapeared there is another way in under that program and thats by being employed as a skilled worker for two years.

The problem is I have to convince the company to hire me for one year and fill out a work visa application which will be tough because they usually only hire on 3 to 4 month contracts, its always with a different company and they have to advertise the position for three months and prove there was no one suitable to fill it.

I'd be applying as a production assistant and were a dime a dozen.

For my accomodation plus a meal plan it would cost around about $11480 for two years and my tution fees would be $9100 for one year so $18200 for two years.

$29680

Which is about £16,812.30

Theres no way I can do it without loans and that isnt including the flights which would be another $4,000

OK, so $35K, right? Have you looked into other resource options? I am pretty sure there maybe a few out there. The line up for citizenship is a long one... with taxicab drivers who are doctors and lawyers, so take it one step at a time.

Lol, yeah I got it now to be honnest its really not a serrious option we have to live together for 12 months, have joint bank accounts, joint ownership of a home and many more requirements proving that we are a couple!

I'll get to canada eventually its just I'm fed up of building a life there then having to drop it to come back home then wait for the next time I can go out again.

Beaver, I'm going to have a look but I dont really know what options I have banks dont really give out loans for education but I'll keep looking.

P.S thanks for being sympathetic.

Can you just get a regular personal loan or is there a special deal on the student ones?

hey beaver, are you using the a href code?

all you have to do is click on it in the allowed html box,

then copy and paste your url over the http so your quotes are at the end and beginning of your url. then type the text in the link text box and it should work...

Well the student loans is like a 1% interest rate and if I dont pay it back in 25 years it gets written off where as if I got a bank loan I'd have to pay back the everything and the interest would be alot higher.

Thanks for all the help everyone, to be honnest my head is spinning with all the various links and information I'm gonna take a brake from it.

But I have no idea how international students do it, its very confusing.
