Deep Space Nine was by far my favorite out of all the series. It went against the whole Roddenberry utopian universe.

I never watched star trek growing up but the trailer looked pretty cool.

Deep space 9 was lame and was totally against what star trek was about, I was always a voyager fan.

The only thing I can really say is all the characters look too young to be playing the people their supposed to be.

Uh-oh, there's going to be a Star Trek throwdown.

Going against the Star Trek "the universe is perfect and everyone likes one another" is what made DS9 good.

I didn't like Voyager much at first but it grew on me.

under further investigation, Voyager was the only show Ive seen full episodes of.

yes. that's one of my main things... its weird how that would bother me considering how little I care about Star Trek

But aren't they supposed to be a younger pre-series cast? Wouldn't it make sense to be younger?

yes, the whole crew is supposed to be younger. i think it's about how the crew came to be or something.

Yeah but kirks like 18 years old and captain of a brand new space ship thats supposed to be the lead ship in the fleet it feels kind of odd.

As for ds9 I didnt like it because I didnt like the fact they were stuck on a space station, star trek is about going some where.

"Explores the early Starfleet careers of future Enterprise officers Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto), Scotty (Simon Pegg), Amanda Grayson (Winona Ryder), Uhura (Zoe Saldana), McCoy (Karl Urban), Sulu (John Cho), and Chekhov (Anton Yelchin). A Romulan, Nero (Eric Bana), and a much older Spock (Leonard Nimoy) are influences, as well as Captain Pike (Bruce Greenwood), the first captain of the USS Enterprise."

I can see that. More exploration of the Gamma Quadrant would have made an interesting show, a lot like Voyager and the Delta Qauadrant.

What hooked me on DS9 was the darker themes of the show. The Cardassian occupation, religious persecution and terrorism and the eventual war with the Dominion just made more complex story arcs then what had been done with TNG.

They broke a lot of taboos that would probably not have been broke had Roddenberry been alive and in my opinion it made for a much more believeable show.

It appears that Kirk is a command candidate, or something, and Pike is in command. I don't know how old they intend to make Kirk but Pine is 28 years old.

I popped like thirteen mind boners watching that trailer.

I'm not evcen a big Star Trek fan, but I'm one of the biggest JJ Abrams fans, especially LOST and his movies. this movie looks epic beyond epic. He always manages to take older concepts (old tv series, established movie franchises, monster movies, etc) and turn them into something new and innovative. Very excited to see it!

Ok I'm glad that he's not in command, they all look very young but its still going to be odd its deffiently a very different star trek to what i'm used to.

Exactly my thoughts. Whoever cast this thing did a rubbish job of it. It doesn't even matter how capable these people may be as actors, they're too associated with other roles and comedic roles taking over roles associated with other actors. The audience is going to have a lot of trouble seeing them I think.

that's true about the outside association... but I think in this case it could really pay off. I have more faith in this cast than any ensemble cast of a remake I've seen in a long time. I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

mostly Zachary Quinto as Spock. I popped about 16 Vulcan boners when I finally saw that!

I can see zachary quinto as spock but my main problem is simon pegg, mainly because he does a terrible scottish accent and he really only plays depressed characters which isnt what scotty is about.
