I'm using two computers at the same time.

The sims on one and the internet on the other, the fact that I'm playing on the sims puts me in geek territory.

just get a dual monitor setup, then you could do em on the same computer.

stubby43 on Aug 20 '08 at 9:19am
Cant, the home computers not powerful enough to do it, it crashes when play the sims.

I'm using my sisters laptop and the home computer so I cant really link them, plus I wouldnt know how.

ah. makes sense.

squatterjohn on Aug 20 '08 at 9:33am
Would you need two mouses* to do that? And two keyboards? Or some kind of switch?

* My geekiness is not at the level to know whether or not this is the correct plural form. Mice looks kind of dumb when not talking about the animal.

It is eating up my harddrive and I need to uninstall it. Or atleast one of the dumb expansion packs. Pets *shudders*. Fucking stray dogs turning my bin over every night. But I don't play it any more anyway.
sonmi
   sonmi on Aug 20 '08 at 9:39am
yeah the expansion packs starting getting lame... i think the last one i got was hot date (?)... which was like, back in 2002
skeev
skeev on Aug 20 '08 at 9:41am
I think my last one was Livin Large, I think that was the first expansion too.
Madshadow
Madshadow on Aug 20 '08 at 9:44am
Yeah, livin large was the first expansion pack for the sims. But are you playing The Sims 1 or 2?

The sims 1 had some pretty lame expansion packs later in life...like, Sims Makin Magic?! My sister bought that one, and paired up with Pets, you could do this one spell that changed your animals into people. She had a black cat, and she wanted to see what he would turn into. He turned into a black man. Very awkward.

I heard they are making a sims 3. And this time the neighborhoods are always going to be active. So house A will still be living life while you are playing with house B. Something like that atleast.

I miss my obsession with the sims. :(

I'm looking forward to the sims 3, mostly because my sister is going to buy it and not me, we have every expanision pack for each version of the sims plus all the object packs. ok so we dont have the sims one on the computer but thats still alot of memory.

John are you talkingf about a dual montior set up? the only thing you'd need two of is a monitor, your basically making the window twice as large.

But if your talking about my set up its two computers (so two of everything.
squatterjohn
squatterjohn on Aug 20 '08 at 10:24am
Yeah I was talking about a dual monitor. So if I move the mouse over to the left of one screen it'll disappear off that one and then reappear over on the next one?

I'm not looking forward to the sims 3, just because I know I'm going to have to buy it, and almost all the expansion packs.

I'm hoping they include "past expansion packs" in the starter game though. Like, who wants to buy "Pets" and "vacation" three times (sims1, 2, and 3), and then like University twice and stuff.

Madshadow on Aug 20 '08 at 10:29am
I, like many others, would kill my sims at some point. Not the important ones, just the ugly stragglers that MEANT NOTHING.

i never understood the sims. i tried playing it once, but i couldn't figure out how to make my sims commit suicide. the game lost its appeal when that happened.

real life simulation my ass.
Madshadow
Madshadow on Aug 20 '08 at 10:36am
You can build walls around them, or take ladders out of the pool. Those are surefire ways to kill them. But its not really "suicide" unless they willingly jump into the pool.
mezo

Easy way to torture/murder a Sim is to build a tiny room around him with no doors or windows....and wait for his demise. (after his peepants)

I enjoy setting Sims on fire then having them turn into a ghost and haunt the house. RAD.

the sims is nothing, rollercoastertycoon is where IT"S AT!

ginetteginette
   ginetteginette on Aug 20 '08 at 10:46am
i can never actually play the sims for very long because i only enjoy building, designing and furnishing the houses. it was better when i lived at home because i would build an entire neighbourhood and then my sister would actually play with sims in them. we were a great team.
mezo
   mezo on Aug 20 '08 at 10:46am
Sure, ginette, but you can't program in a code to that game which will turn off the censor so you can see pixel boobies.

oh man, ginette has never been more right.

rollercoaster tycoon was the backbone of my childhood, and the themes in that game influenced me more than my parents, I'd say.

Madshadow
Madshadow on Aug 20 '08 at 10:58am
Ginette, I couldn't agree with you more, on like, all aspects of both of your posts. You don't know how many empty houses I have in the sims.

And RCT was amazing. I loved it. I loved the random parks like "Forest Frontier". RCT 3 ruined the franchise.

There was a Roller Coaster Tycoon 3?!? Why didn't I know about that?

I'm obsessed with both The Sims 2 and RCT 2. Although I overplayed both of them this summer and now I'm kinda off both of them. That's the best way to cure an obsession, in my experience.

Yes! whisper in water , there was a RCT3! It was horrible! It got away from the classic RCT look and feel, and they made it 3d. It was too reminiscent of "Sim Themepark" which means it was cartoony, and just eh. It ran slow too, because it was in full cartoon 3D. I haven't played the original RCT in sooo long, because the disk broke in half. But I still have RCT2 and Sims 2 on my computer. I'm afraid to get addicted to them again.

rct 3 went like hella 3-d so i never picked it up. i still play rct occasionally (and wasted both previous summers playing it non-stop. i'm a big ass loser and finished all the levels in the two first cds.)

i love Arid Heights! where money doesn't exist! my dream level.
sonmi
   sonmi on Aug 20 '08 at 12:44pm
but it takes sooo long if you don't have free cash! i guess it's just a different way of playing it, if you're more into designing stuff, than actually making them work for their $$
Madshadow
Madshadow on Aug 20 '08 at 12:45pm
You finished all of the levels in rct2?! If so, youre so lucky! There was one scenario that I could NEVER beat. I think it was called "Victoria Falls" but my memory is a bit off. I think it was like, African themed, or something. I could never beat it! I think I needed to make my park value higher or something. Blah now I wanna play it!

Madshadow
Madshadow on Aug 20 '08 at 12:51pm
To Sonmi, Yeah, I know what you mean. Whenever I just want to build a really nice house and furnish it with stuff, I do the codes for more money. (I think its either rosebud, or kaching). I just remember doing rosebud, then like ";" after it, and just holding down enter and getting so much money. But I think that was the first sims.

I'm currently in the process of (il)legally downloading the sims 2. We're now on day 8.
