Well it's kinda normal, his dad has a pool table in the garage, so it'd pretty ok to play with different sized balls I guess.

I made phasers out of milk cartons when Star Trek was still cool and chicks swooned if you had Vulcan eyebrows.

Dont get me wrong I know kids like to dress up and theres very little difference from him doing this and cosplayers the problem is that he's made it so public, the fact is that popular websites are jumping on this video declaring him the new star wars kid.

He's destined to be a meme and this is going to cause him so many problems. He thought people were going to think he's awesome but he's just going to be a global laughing stock.

He's got two choices, be the star wars kid everyone wants him to be and be bullied, hide and sue anyone he can for damages or he can chose to do what other memes who had this status forced on them. laugh it off, I doubt tron guy wanted to be a big internet celebrity but he embraced and accepted its a part of him and took a screw you attitude to the world but then again he was a 40 year old man. I think this is going to be far more hurtful for this kid.

I had no idea they were three years old, but the thing about the net is sometimes things can stay dormant then explode.

It just got put up on collegehumor.com and made their best of the week banner, this is one of the most infulencial websites on the net with over 200 million page views a month and it gets the most important demographic 18-24.

If it gets picked up by digg.com and redit then its got a good chance of exploding.

I do hope that it stays in active because it could really hurt the kid.

When people used to do stuff like this you could be fairly certain it would be kept to themselves or just their friends, at worst it could take over a school but then it would die down. We live in a very different world where people have access to ultra cheap filming equipment (which would of blocked out most people) and an even more afforadable way of distributing videos, quickly and to a large audience.

On the whole I think this is a very good thing but in certain circumstances its more damaging, at least when the media had total control people like this kid couldnt humiliate themselves on a global scale.

Nope, got it from collegehumor today.

I tend to stick to the tech articles on digg, I'm using it to research my disertation, I'm looking at what the effects of the internet (and the low cost of cameras) has had on the media. I'm going to be looking into memes and how they become popular (and its effects), how companies can become successful and make massive profits off of the net (collegehumor is a multi millon dollar company) and how the traditional media is dealing with it.

Which varries from a few good examples (e.g web to tv stars like human giant) to the bad for example the viacom youtube court case and net neutrality.

Should be interesting.
