I'm a little bit creeped out, I was on the internet doing research for my essay and came across an article by the telegraph that listed the 101 most useful websites and one of the websites it listed was zoopla this website lists the recent sales of houses then attempts to work out the value of the houses around it. Our house is on that website and states how the price we bought it for. I'm kind of creeped out by it because we've never consented for that information to be online.

There are quite a few websites like that. I think theyre really handy. I'm not sure what you think anyone is going to do with that info or why it would creep you out?

All that stuff is on the title deed and essentially public domain information. Not really cool having it online though. I blame Labour.

I'd say it was pretty useful for anyone buying a house- why should you mind your house price being online?

That sort of stuff is reported in the papers here. I think it's public information. But it's still creepy.

ditto to the above. We used our county's online land records to find out how much the other houses in our new neighborhood are. It really does help for a buying a house. It even has satellite maps but it doesn't zoom in too far so not too creeepy.

I use a website called "up my street" to find out what my neighbours houses sell for. It's great for the nosey.

I just checked out my flat, and it estimated £81k. It's actually worth around £120k. It Only really takes into account inflation, and not the fact that there is a property boom in that area.

I can see how its useful, I'm just not that comfortable with everyone knowing how much/or how little I or in this case my parents paid for our house.

I'm only nosey to see how much houses are going for. If I saw someome had paid buttons for their house ans it was now worth loads, I's think "good on you". If they paid over the odd I'd think "what a chump".

I don't think anyone one but you would actually pay attention to which house is which. Most people are just looking in a general area.
