Or more to the point anything you upload onto facebook becomes their property, you forefit the copyright as soon as its uploaded to their website:
"By posting User Content to any part of the Site, you automatically grant, and you represent and warrant that you have the right to grant, to the Company an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, transferable, fully paid, worldwide license (with the right to sublicense) to use, copy, publicly perform, publicly display, reformat, translate, excerpt (in whole or in part) and distribute such User Content for any purpose, commercial, advertising, or otherwise, on or in connection with the Site or the promotion thereof, to prepare derivative works of, or incorporate into other works, such User Content, and to grant and authorize sublicenses of the foregoing" I know for most people this isnt a problem, but for someone like me who uploads short films and then gets my friends to view them this is huge, it means I dont own something I've spent a long time working on and its pretty much stealing. But the moral dilema here is that facebook is invaluable for generating interest in our work and because its our friends their our base audience. Anyone have any idea how we should deal with this? I'm happy for some sort of a loss of copyright (but one I agree to) in favour of visability, but this basically says if I choose to profit off of my own work they can sue me.
