Yo guys hows it going?

Lately I've been feeling inspired to write again, I have two ideas for short films that will probably go into production when I'm back in canada.

They both work on a simple prinicipal and are meant to be funny.

The first film I'm thinking about writing will be a war film, the joke the soliders will be using water pistols and granades will be water balloons.

The film will have all the sterotypes of a war film with the company going through basic training and going into action.

The ideas I have for this so far are the soilders hiding behind a building, looking out, doing the hand sign thing then flanking to try and take the position.

Having them walking in formation.

Having them extremely scared so they cant move and someone forcing them on.

The classic scene where one man gets hit and other men run out to bring them back and getting hit themselves.

Is their anything else I should add to this?

The other idea that I'm having alot more difficulty with is a band movie, you know the type, you see the band getting together, having their first gig, getting signed and making it big then the band colapses.

The joke their playing guitar hero.

Theres been a few movies made like this and their all pretty crap, so we'll hopefully make something decent by writing a good script and getting good locations and actors.

My problem with this short film is that I'm no where near as familar with the genre as I am war films.

What happens in these films and what are the classic scenes in a band film?

Classic band movie moments

1)two of the band members being friends since childhood

2)finding the last member of the band in a bar

3)one of the band members getting addicted to drugs

4)one of the band members missing a gig cos of drugs/groupies/drunkenness

5)band break up start new bands

6)an Ex band member comming back with their new rival band

7)big reiounion band get back togeather and play to a screaming audence as the credits role

You should watch three kings, just because it's the best. The watch Ice Cube's acting tips.

Also, I kind of like war movies. Does that make me a dude?

Watch Platoon. One of the finest movies ever made. And jammed full of war movie cliches. And Willem Dafoe.

three kings was a great film ide fogotten all about it untill you mentioned it. For a war cliche how about the soldier giving his ring/watch/other memento to a friend to give to his son
