a friend of mine and i were talking about film vs hd.

it's funny, but we'll nevr have a film medium of that kinda quality despite our hd efforts.

Film looks amazing, but the problem is film is very hard work the sad thing is even though we havent developed a way of replacing it films going to die out, digital is far cheaper and you can employ less people to use it.

it's true and it's even funnier working in post and listening to the older editors

all this technology has actually take the editor, the director, cameraman further away from the actual craft putting more reliance on technology to smooth over the rough areas.

films began to fail when they relied on post. with film, you have to shoot it right the first time.

Exactly, the other problem with digital is the fact that its liberalised the medium now of course thats a good thing because people like me can go out and make short films in our spare time but it also means its harder to stand out from the crowd and it allows alot more crap to be made.

and, the hd format has, i think 12 types within the umbrella of HD.

it's a clusterfuck and it's not helping the tv/movie industry at all.
