I'm feeling really happy and really down at the same time.

I've had such an amazing time out here in canada and I dont want it to end, this is how I wanted university to be in the uk where I'd be having fun almost all the time and actually learn things that are useful to me.

I've made amazing friends that are into their own thing, one of my friends makes snowboarding films and sells enough so that he could go out and buy a $3000 camera, i've learnt so much from photography and I've done so many things that I'd never of done if I'd of stayed in the UK.

For example I went drifting tonight which is effectivly dilberatly loosing control of the car just enough so you can slide.

I'm feeling sad because its almost over, dont get me wrong I want to come home and see my family but this has been the most amazing three months of my entire life.

Canada has that effect on people. I've been a lot of places, seen a lot of things and I still love being here the most.

Kind of, you usually do it in an empty car park, basically what you do is get your car up to a speed then pull on the emergancy brake which lets you slide across the ice, you let go of the emerancy brake then put on the normal brakes and your fine.

Oh yeah you couldnt do it on tarmack, the wheels would have to be extremely worn down, it turns out I'm fairly decent at it and its fine as long as you give yourself plenty of space to correct your mistakes.

But yeah I love it out here even if I'm not a fan of the cold for example its snowing right now and has been every other day for the past week and the days its not been snowing its been so cold that it hasnt melted.

What are your plans after the holidays? Were you here for just the one semester?

unfortunatly yes I have to go home and finish up my degree then my next goal is getting back out here as soon as possible, if I can get a job set up I'll be able to come over here on a 6 month work visa.

I'm glad you've had such a great experience!

Living in Canada my whole life, I've gotten used to the complete uselessness of thermometers. Wind chill factor and humidex rule the world, in my humble opinion. I don't care what the temperature actually is, I need to know what it feels like so I can dress appropriately.

I felt the same way when I was in Prague for my study abroad trip. It's completely normal to feel that way.

I'm glad you're having a good time....especially after so many people told you that Regina / Saskatchewan in general would be lame back when you were deciding where to go. They were wrong! the people make this province what it is.

Aw!

I know a few people who have been in your position and have described what you're feeling. It's a tough dillema. But there's nothing that says you can't come back! And if you're willing to make the effort, you will most definitely keep the friends you've made here. Maybe they'll even come visit you at home!

I felt a similar euphoria and sadness towards the end of my much briefer stay in San Diego, for different reasons I guess. It was the best two weeks of my life, despite ruining me financially. I'd love to return one day.
