Ok so for christmas/birthday/21st birthday I'm getting a DSLR and I've narrowed it down to a Nikon D40 but I'm not sure if I want to go up to 10 mega pixels or not.

is 6 megapixels enough to do comerical work with?

I know 10 megapixels is more for printing out posters.

what do you guys think? its adding £100 to the cost.

I have a 6mpixel Minolta and I have blown them up to 11x14, looked fine to me. Not sure about commercial, though, where's VulcanHalfbreed when you need her?

I was deciding between the D40 and the D40x too. I ended up going with the D40x. I was already blowing $700 and the D40x wasn't that much more.

If you crop your photos a lot or want to print bigger than 11x14 you should get the D40x.
