Ok, I really really want to go to this meet up espcially because its the store opening and a special threadless event till the wee hours of the morning.

But I'm not sure if I can do it, you see I'm traveling to canada to spend 4 months on exchange program as part of university.

On the one hand I dont want to risk messing up this semester and I'd be going to this thing two weeks after my terms started so its a bit odd to go jetting off somewhere so soon.

On the other hand its never going to be cheaper for me to do it (being a brit), in fact the first price I found was £250.

I do have money, by the end of august I'll have about $6000 saved plus I'll be getting $100 a week from my parents.

Basically I need these questions answering:

What time are you lot getting to chicago? how are you getting to the offices? how long do I have to be at an airport before flying out? Where are you lot staying? how much will it cost? Will anyone be able to meet me at the airport (I'm new to the country so I'm a little scared).

The train system in Chicago is really easy, and that's what I used to get around everywhere during the party of doom.

For international flights, they recommend being at the airport 2 hours before the flight... but that's just absurd, especially going to & from Canada. I shoot for 1 hour before.

Make sure you read up on the rules about carry-ons and stuff in America - there are weird regulations about liquids these days.

Thanks lady kat, God I really want to do this but I'm a little scared.

It looks like no one is arriving on the friday and I really dont want to naviagate myself to the threadless offices on my own, i have a notoriously bad sense of direction which is made worse when i'm tired (which I will be after a 5 hour flight) so I really need someone to meet me (or pick me up from the airport any chance of that staff?).

the other thing is am I going to have to skip a day of college? to get there in time, if so then it makes more sense to fly out on the thursday.

Why do Americans say "I am going to Canada"? Don't you realize Canada is a huge huge place, bigger than almost anywhere on earth? WHERE in Canada, my friend?

Taking the subway from the airports is really easy. At O'Hare, the station is below the main terminals, at Midway, the station is a bit of a walk through a parking garage, but the way is clearly marked. If you want specific directions on how to take public transportation anywhere, you can give more details on exactly where you're going and I'm sure someone will help out.

Also, you can plug in addresses on the CTA website, and they'll give an itinerary for trains/buses to take.

stubby, i say if you can do it, then do so. there are tons of maps and at least three ways to get there. worst case, you call a cab. also, keep in mind that the event is actually over a month away. if in that time, we can't figure out a way get you from point a to point b, then there is something wrong w/ the world. keep your eye on all the blogs to see if at some point anyone is ariving around the same time.

that's what i'm doing. you've got tons more travel experience on me.

Thanks chelly, I've decided that I'm going I'm just waiting to book my tickets.

Sorry about being impatient, this morning I wasnt going at all and now tonight I'm almost deffiently making the trip. I've gone a bit hyperactive and I cant sleep, I mean I'm doing something stupid and irrisponsible by making this trip. I should be staying in canada and making friends, not jetting off to chicago to go meet up with people I talk to on the blogs of a website I buy tee shirts from.

On the other hand this is a once in a life time opertunity, I may never go back to chicago, its the threadless store opening, my classes probably wont be that hard that early and I can afford it.
