I've always wanted to go to the threadless offices, almost as soon as I discovered the website but I'm british and living in the UK makes popping up to the office a little difficult What with the atlantic ocean in the way.

So far all I've really been able to do is talk about an eventual trip to chicago with each year it being pushed back for various reasons.

What with the party of doom talk and the fact that alot of other international members would love to go it got me a thinking.

How about we get as many international members to travel up to the offices at the same time?

It would be cool to get together, meet the staff and meet a load of american bloggers, we could go see the tourist things in chicago, the offices (obviously) and then if we wanted to we could go to somewhere like new york city and have a meet up with bloggers there and see the city.

Or something.

Its going to be quite a while before I can afford to go (in fact I'd guess at a year) and I imagine it would take the same amount of time for everyone else to save as well.

But this is me saying if you lot are up for it then lets get saving and make it happen.

If your interested I'll put you down on a list.

I find the term "internationals" pretty offensive. Would you mind referring to yourselves as "International Americans"?

I'm confused, when I said international I meant people living outside the US, e.g Britain, canada, mexico, australia.

Am I not living outside USA if I have declared Jihad to the American people?

So would anyone serriously be interested in a trip to the threadless offices?

The only reason I'm doing this, this advanced is so people have time to save.
g3rpander
g3rpander on Jul 13 '07 at 4:58pm

it would be nice to make a trip to chicago but i'm already saving to go back packing through spain next year.

I am serious about going, but looking at it realistically, next year, it is mildly possible that i will be able to afford it, but the year after that (in two years) would suit me better.

The only thing that worries me is going over there on a plane alone (bit sad really) so maybe we could meet up over here and then fly over, with other threadless people (in small groups)

seriously I think all thems americans should come to th UK - they can see us, give us limited tees and tote bags and spread the threadless word. I aint goin to Chicago they can come to us. Besides I got a wedding to pay for and I'm in boston for Xmas.
g3rpander
g3rpander on Jul 13 '07 at 5:10pm
I wouldn't go to Boston, haven't you all seen The Departed? Them bloody Irish mafia killing the whole town.
alister
alister on Jul 13 '07 at 5:10pm
haha, i see your point wotto, and they should come over to us, and we should get limited tees and all the cool stuff too.

But i still wanna go visit the offices.

I'll only go to the offices if they let me paint all over the walls.

Well two years would be a bit more time to save and I'd be happy to travel in a small group.

The flights would roughly cost about £600 from manchester to Chicago.

New Yoirk!? Why? Haven't you seen Taxi Driver??

Theyre all nuts in the States!

alister on Jul 13 '07 at 5:19pm
Sounds good so far, its just a matter of saving so i can afford it. I would think, all in all, it will be quite a costly trip, but if i start saving now, in around two years or something, i should have enough.
stubby43
stubby43 on Jul 13 '07 at 5:22pm
Yeah and I'm going to take a guess but I dont think your parents would be too keen on a 16 year old flying to the states on their own so maybe two years would be better.

I still kind of want to go next year though because I should be able to afford it.
alister
alister on Jul 13 '07 at 5:25pm
To be honest, i think my parents would let me, thats is i paid for everything myself and didnt travel by myself, but yea, in two years i'll be ready.

I could go next year when im 17 but i still wont have enough cash.

Chicago is a reasonable day's drive (8 hrs + random delay for border crossing) from Toronto, though if I was going by myself I'd probably fly. On the other hand, with a few passengers, it would make a lot more sense to drive.

I'd love to go, this is my way of making it happen an attempt to get it off the drawing board.

It would be great to have as many international bloggers and american bloggers together and it would be an excuse for other bloggers who wouldnt normally make the effort to go to make the trip.

Hell if I'm traveling 3000 miles to go I'm sure you can make it.
