I've never read the books, the film was ok but it was nothing special I heard they put some of the second book into the film which spoiled it a bit.

they combined the radio show and books into the film,

i suggest everyone reads the books, as they are fantastically funny.

no kidding, i was very much looking forward to this movie when it came out, too bad he died before it did cause there is no way he would have let it turn out the way it did

also, wasnt ford a white guy in the book, i hate when movies change characters

and zaphod looked weird with his head under his chin like that

the old tv series was better than the new movie, i just wish they remade the old tv series with new technology and special effects

The film had good scenes, that intro is amazing and I love the scene where we see how the world is made and the scene where they queue up to rescue triny is the epitomy of britishness.

And I do like the fact that when they destroy the world the satilete dish you see is jodrel bank which is about 20 minutes away from me.

I loved the movie and hated the books, which I thought was weird because I love to read and hate watching movies.

I loved both of them. Obviously the books hold a closer spot in my heart, but for me, the hilarity of the movie was what shone through and kept some of Adams' humor.

I mean, seriously, the part where Arthur vomits string... that was brilliant, and same for the part with the crab that goes "wheee!" and then gets squished by the space pod door.

The books were the best ever. I read them all about 6 times.

But the movie's version of Marvin was particularly excellent. He was made very well.

Never read the books or saw the TV series but I thought the film was absolute shit.

Actually, Douglas Adams did have input into this script, I think. And from what I remember reading, this is, for the most part, how he wanted the movie to be. He knew that the first book alone wouldn't make a great movie, so he wanted to combine elements from some of the others.

I love the jazz version of that song they play over the end credits.

Often its not a probelm with the script, the script is the only pure form of the film after that you have a vast amount of people getting involved, the good scenes are brilliant so it probably got trashed in editing.
