Ok after reading the make the tee's more expensive blog I started to think about real ways that would improve threadless (bumping up the price is moronic, it is only justifable if the production costs have gone up).

So my suggestions are to number the shirts.

I like the fact that I've bought a tee the first time it came out and i like the idea of it saying first edition on it, then the reprints would each have a number for their addition.

I'd like to see limited runs of threadless tees, threadless prints 4000 of each design then more if its re printed. One of the big attractions of threadless is that its unique and not everyone has them so it would be cool to be able to buy a tee that was from a run of 200, 500 or will only be printed once.

only true in theory - there are lots of fakes available which greatly reduces the unique factor. you want dark side of the garden on dark grey? or blue? I see so many fakes, and the dudes wearing them (and probably even selling them) will never had heard of Threadless. To be honest, I bet 99% of folks couldnt give a shit where their tee shirt came from or how limited edition it is.

Debateable, I mean you live in London Dan, but up in the north I 've only ever seen two people with threadless tees and the only time I saw fakes was when I went to london.

As for the issue of limited editions, by making them limited editions it has the ability to increase the value, people want to own the first one. When naked and angry released the ties they made the first 10 more expensive even though they were excatly the same as the rest and those were the first to go.

Whats more some companies have built their success on limited editions like johnny cupcakes.com, the fact that they can charge $20 for one tee and $45 for another shows that people are more likely to buy if its collectable.

threadless shirts will only start having real monetry value and collectability after about 10-20 years.

umm, no, actually they don't get reprinted. I like when people think they know what they are talking about.

Threadless should quilt the designs into jackets made from the finest hamster hides.

I see people wearing Threadless tees all the time, North or South. I reckon I see about 3 a week on average.

It does, but Craig said not so long ago that despite that button they never have and never intend to reprint Selects.

On a different note, it would be a good idea to let the designer edit their original comment under their submission—that way they can address issues that come up later in the comments about sizing, placement, edits, etc., and have people actually see what they have to say.

Cant be done, girly tees cost more to make.

12 month clubs are quite exlusive, and don't get reprinted. I think other than that, from a business point of view, limited print runs would not make sense.

That's a good suggestion Verdana.

There is only 4000 of each design printed?

is that in each size, or is that a total of 4000 shirts?
deboraborialis
deboraborialis on Jul 29 '07 at 4:06pm
Total of 4000. Guys medium get the most, and least in girly XL.
cassiepaige
cassiepaige on Jul 29 '07 at 4:10pm
I thought there was a lot more than that.

I guess that's why some designs sell out in a day. I thought it was only 2000.
