Noooo!

"The original attraction opened on May 2, 1991, at Universal Studios Florida however, the Orlando ride closed on March 30, 2007, after running at half capacity for over three months [1]. A new attraction based on The Simpsons is scheduled to open in the summer of 2008 in its place [2]. It is understood that the attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood will be closing[3] on Labor Day September 3, 2007"

Replacing it with a simpsons ride? I spit on them back to the future is one of the greatests films ever made and the ride was bloody amazing and there getting rid of it the fuckers.

This is really horrendous news! Yeah, the first time i went on this ride (on labor day of course, where every ride was a 2 and a half hour wait!) when i was like 13 or something suitably youngish, it blew my little mind with the ride instantly capturing all your senses and sending them into the mouth of a dinosaur as well as taking a massive dump on Biff's head yet again! This ride will be missed as my first multimedia thrill ride i ever went on....but hey, at least it's being replaced by another American institution, The simpsons! It'll be pretty cool taking a ride around Springfield and into all the nooks and crannies of the city.

I just think they should get rid of a different ride and put the simpsons in it is place, the only one thats still going is in oska Japan (which opened in 2001) because universal studios is closing in hollywood the ride is going till the end of the summer.

So if your in LA go on it, it maybe the last chance to go on this great ride.

Yeah serisously, that movie you posted really got to me, and its scary how much i still remember from the presentation of that ride to the opening scenes when you are lifted into the actual time travel section! Man, i wanna go on it again so badly!!! I might have to take a trip to LA.....does this mean the one in Japan will stay operational for the near future? Even though it is probably showing its age by now, Disneyland still has It's a Small World running over and over and over, and all you do on that one is stare at a bunch on Chuckie Cheese-ish robots dancing and singing about peace, love and universal hard-ons for one another's races. You don't even get to travel down ONE dinosaur's throat.

Well no ones mentioned any plans to get rid of the one in Japan, it wouldnt make that much sense since it only opened a few years ago, aparantly there closing the rides because it was struturally un sound so there using it as an excuse to build a new ride.

I love that ride, I've been to florida twice and been on it aload of times because it was one of the few rides my mum would go on, but I love the films there amoungst my favourite films of all time, so its really say.

Universal keeps getting rid of all its signature rides and replacing them with faddy ones, at least disney is smart enough to keep the classics.

You know, I seem to remember that when I was little, there was a part INSIDE of the T-Rex. Does anyone else? Did they cut it?

Anyway, I think all L.A. residents on the site should make a concerted effort to go to Universal on the same day to visit the ride one last time. Especially if they print It Came Out Of Nowhere

I'd go myself but the fact is I cant afford it, I'm already going to canada for 4 months, but I'm getting there after it closes.

this makes me almost as sad as when they got rid of mr. toad's wild ride at disney and put the lame winnie the pooh ride :(

I'm just pissed off that they revamped the pirates of the carribean ride just so it would go along with the movies. I need to go again to see how bad the fucked it up.

Dont get me wrong I loved the movies- but the original ride needed no revamping

k I'm not just pissed about that- back to the future was one of my favorite rides, and now I'm even more pissed we didnt go to universal last year so I could have gone on it one last time..

stephanocheerio on Jun 04 '07 at 7:07am
agreed ^ I haven't gone on it again since then...but I heard it sucks.

I also hated how they renovated it's a small world...I liked how run down it was getting :( hahaha even though it probably wouldn't have lasted much longer...I liked pointing out the dolls that had their heads almost off and were twitching.

Is it really that bad? I mean I thought it needed the work, I dont know the features I saw it looked alright but I havent been to america since 2000.

Oh man, I'm glad I went on this when I was in Disneyworld/Universal last fall!

What's sad is that was my first time going to Disneyworld ever... it only took 17 years.

kayceislost on Jun 04 '07 at 9:58am
not saying i didnt like it, if they had to get rid of something they should have gotten rid of the et ride, whoever made that ride was on a fucking acid trip while making it.

but the videos in the back to the future ride were hilarious.

much agreed kayce, much agreed...

and im not so sure stubby, I have only seen little things on the disney channel of the pirates ride. But from what I could tell they had changes it so there was a whole lot of jack and barbosa. Which I thought was stupid since in the movies they had little excerpts in the ride like the guy spitting out water when coming up from the well.

Third movie was the best!! "Ahahahahaha, Dead Men Tell No Tales...." oooowww!!!

Why do they always get rid of the best rides? That's awful. Not that I was likely ever to go back, but that's hardly the point.

getting rid of BTTF is like Disney closing Space Mountain.

I dont know why there doing it really, I mean yeah its a bit out dated but all that really means is they should fix it up, not get rid of it.

Why dont they just buy some more land and build some more rides on it?
kayceislost
kayceislost on Jun 04 '07 at 10:31am
yeah, they could fix it up not axe it completely.

yeah, when i went to universal studios, the wait for back to the future was FIVE hours. i'm not even lying. but we got free "skip anyone" cards because the E.T. ride broke while saying my name at the end (it had been working badly all day and my name was the final straw)
kayceislost
kayceislost on Jun 04 '07 at 10:48am
dude, the et ride never said my name right. ever. once it called me chelsea. i wanted to go up to the guy who typed in my name and smack him.

I'm pretty sure the entire state of Florida is a myth

perpetuated by blue cross/ blue shield so that as we age

we think we'll have a place to drive oversized cars near

alligator-laden swamps with unrelenting sunshine that will

turn our skin into that of leather orange peel

good day.

For my last time on E.T. my friends and I all gave ourselves ridiculous names to see E.T. say them, but we soon found him saying, "Friend..." over and over. We realized it meant us. :(

E.T. has been closed for a while now. They replaced it with a Mummy rollercoaster that takes literally thirty seconds to ride.

damn. i need to take a trip to univeral/islands of adventure before they start closing other rides... (only 2hrs north of where im at)
