My blog spots annoying the hell out of me because I cant set the widths of the posts, at the moment it cuts off almost everything I post. I mean one way around it is asking everyone I work with to resize their images to a decent size (at the moment I dont have adequet software for it) but sometimes I want to look at big images, I think shrinking them takes away from them.

So the only option is to go through the html, but honnestly I'm really not that good.

I find the grammatical errors more annoying. Yes, I'm a pedantic cunt.

That'll be solved completly at the latest after christmas, my LEA is giving me a load of programs to help with that (I have dyslexia), it'll do stuff like define words, suggest better ways of prasing it and itll read it out to me so I'll be able to spot the mistakes.

I dont pick up on it when I read it unless its really obvious, I cant see any grammar mistakes mainly because I dont know what I'm looking for.

Oh and I agree completely, if I want to be taken serriously I need to get that sort of thing right, honnestly the sooner i move off a blog spot the better but its all a matter of money.
Bramish
   Bramish on May 12 '07 at 6:26pm
Fair enough. I'm not having a go. But a proof reader would make all the difference.

Dont worry I didnt take offense, next years going to be a much bigger year for the project because I'll actually have a job which means I can put some money into it. The plan right now is to get myself to a point where I have something to show to people and get them involved.

I'm tempted to go down the university society root, or at the very least advertise for positions in uni.

But right now its a case of getting as much as done on my own as I can.

   Bramish on May 12 '07 at 6:56pm

even your name is wrong, and i remember when you bought it up, it wasn't a popular name, it wasn't grammatically correct, and you went ahead with it anyway.

GL with the being taken seriously thing.

Well it wasnt as if the name for the blog wasnt thought out, I want to avoid something cheesey, something memorable and something that says something about the ideals I'm attempting to celebrate. This whole project is about looking for those artists, clothing lines, photographers and bands that are absolutly amazing but most people wont of heard of. Its a rejection of the mainstream and my thinking at the time was that calling it im right your wrong would maybe make people interested, even if its just to prove me wrong.

That and I never managed to think of a better name, and at the moment I've got everything set up, a myspace, blog and email and at the moment I dont really feel like re setting everything up and it means going through and emailing everyone to change their links to me. The fact that they've done an interview and linked to me is asking enough.

Besides there have been plenty of buisness'es that have been successful with bad names, for example theres a band night that has acts like the klaxons in leeds. Its called dyslexic disco and their booking bands that are on the verge of being famous.

So at the moment the names going to stay, maybe latter when I'll get an actual website built, if the names still unpopular I'll change.

I think bp was referring to the fact that you have 'your' rather than 'you're'.
stubby43
stubby43 on May 12 '07 at 7:17pm
That was part of it but I think some people hated the name completely, but you cant please everyone and I want to provoke a reaction.
bananaphone
   bananaphone on May 12 '07 at 7:22pm
yeah, the reaction is that the writer of the site must be a pretentious 14 year old twit, because that's what the name is reflecting.
stubby43
stubby43 on May 12 '07 at 7:24pm
Fair enough, if you've got any suggestions for a better name I'm willing to hear them.
bananaphone
   bananaphone on May 12 '07 at 7:26pm
people pay me for names, so no.

Also you need to update your site every 2 - 3 days, without fail. And then you need to get on top of marketing all your traffic and where it is coming from, and how to get more of it.
stubby43
stubby43 on May 12 '07 at 7:35pm
We all have to make money.

So you think releasing interviews every month would be a bad idea then?

To be honnest at the moment I'm a little limited to what I can do, in two weeks I'll be leaving uni for the summer and I have to plunge all my time and effort into saving for canada (Im off on an exchange program) but I have got plans for september onwards and with a bit of luck things will work out better finacially.
bananaphone
   bananaphone on May 12 '07 at 7:49pm
you need new content every 2 - 3 days MINIMUM to build good repeat readership.

All the best blogs update every 1 - 2 days, such as josh spear for instance.
stubby43
stubby43 on May 12 '07 at 7:51pm
True, fecalface updates everyday (another example of a bad name).

Oh sorry about your tee design getting knicked.

bananaphone
   bananaphone on May 12 '07 at 7:58pm
fecalface is a half half name, it can work due to reputation, but it'll never be a good name for a beauticians.

J-Ray on May 12 '07 at 8:21pm
Why do you advertise your site as called "Im right your wrong" when the domain name is the reverse?

I manually typed www.imrightyourwrong.com and .co.uk and neither of them took me to your blog.
Bramish
   Bramish on May 12 '07 at 8:23pm
That's a valid and very important point.
stubby43
stubby43 on May 13 '07 at 6:12am
Well I havent regiserted the website yet, I was planning on doing that on monday.

I think I'll take it down for a bit until I decide what to do about the name.

I was thinking in bed that I dont actually have to start a new blog, just register a new name, its only the myspace that needs changing.
stubby43
stubby43 on May 13 '07 at 6:16am
Oh and when I tried to resigerter the blog and the myspace both were taken in (but when you search for them you cant find them).

I am not very clever with html either. So I use FrontPage. I create what I want in the working view, check it in the WYSIWYG view and then cut and paste the html. (these are not really what the vies are called, it is just early in the a.m.)

It is really a great program and I use it for all my web design needs.

FrontPage is total crap. It's prone to generating bloated crap HTML which works only with IE. I've always wished that Micro$haft stayed the hell off the internat.

Anyhoo, one of the beauties of Google is that you just have to type in some fragment of some halfway relevant HTML and voila, you find lots of tutorials. E.g. google on "img size" and you can get here:

Examples of the IMG element

It's how I manage to put clickable links in my posts here. Ghah, I could never manage to memorize the syntax! But google-copy-and-paste never lets me down.

And if you're doing a lot of it, just put a text file on your desktop with the copy-and-paste bits inside. Yep, a computer-code cheat sheet.....
