Photographys one of those wierd things because you can have all the knowledge in the world and still take a bad photo yet you can have no knowledge at all and take an amazing one.

I'm fasinated by it and I was wondering if I could see some of you're best works?

Heres some of mine (I dont have all that much uploaded).

That is the best photo I've ever taken. I was surprised it came out so well because I was jumping around and screaming and just having a good time. It's Wayne Coyne in case you can't recognize him.

I hope no one is offended by this, but I am irritated by the fact that a lot of people, mainly teens, claim to be "photographers" or that they are into "photography" when in reality anyone can take a picture with a point and shoot digital camera. Of course not offending you, I like the indoor shot with the woman in the burst of light, that's very nice.

Plastic Taxi cab. They can still enjoy photography even if they use a point and shoot camera. I do however agree that to be a photographer you should use a SLR.

I'm not saying they can't enjoy it, and I'm not saying anyone is this blog is like this, but it just brought up the point that you have those kids who call themselves photographers when they can't even have decent composition.

Thats an amazing picture canceromega, so strange as well.

Cheers plastic, the zepton ones are in production, I'm not sure about the lowercase industry ones.

As for the photography thing, I wouldnt say I'm a photographer, I think to be called that you have to get paid but I'm on a film and tv degree. True I'm learning with a different type of camera but almost all the techniques are the same and so is the theory.

I am not sayign whether they are good or not just because they have the manual camera. I am just saying they have a manual camera and if they use it they are a photographer by definition.

thank you taxi cab & ueno. I agree with your statements above, taxi. I see so many people throwing the title of 'serious photographer' around and boasting about their work, and yet they've got the time & date stamp in the corner of every one of their photos because they don't know how to turn it off in their digital camera. :)

The great thing about art is that everybody can do it, and everybody who wants to should do it. You don't need to spend money on expensive cameras or take classes. Both of those things help in a variety of ways, but they're not necessary.

That's like saying an athlete shouldn't get to play professionally unless he's gone to a certain school or something. If you're good at what you do, you're good, and that's all there is to it.
MooseDinner
MooseDinner on Feb 20 '07 at 9:16pm
I also think it's weird to read that sentiment on this website of all places. Where amateur graphic designers and artists can have their work printed and sold to thousands of people.
