Lani Marcus aka nxmq has been an active participant in Perth’s scene as an artist, musician and music journalist for many years. She has collaborated with numerous musicians including UK breaks producer Kraymon, French live act Sy-fy, French drum ‘n’ bass producer FEDE, Melbourne’s lo fi artist Sense (Co-Founder of Emotional Electronic Music) and Sydney based Falcon St Beats, as well as many other Australian musicians. Recently nxmq has teamed up with Brendan Slaven under the guise of Ele-Mental to write spine-tingling electronic melodics. On stage the two give a beautiful live performance that includes a midi controller guitar, synchronised live video mixing and an avant guard approach to vocal sounds. Her radio show, Earlectronics, on Perth’s Base FM, presents the finest in quirky electronic melodics and contemporary art. The show features brand new productions from local and international producers. Dabbling in anything from misguided instrumental sounds to beautiful melodic compositions loaded with beats, Earlectronics is sure to delight your listening holes. The program also features interviews with artists and a rundown on the contemporary art scene. In 2006 nxmq relocated to Japan with her husband. And as the snow starts to fall on the rugged mountains, a new book unravels around her…
