Well, this is not done, but I'm all excited about it so I thought I'd share. I'm doing a gig poster for a really awesome band, The Number One Sons, for a Halloween show they're doing here in Champaign. Here is the work in progress poster:
![]() Of course, there will be more candy corns and I haven't added any words yet. But I just heart my little ghost so I have to share him with yall. Enjoy!!! I'll post the finished poster in a few days. I get to SCREEN PRINT this I am SO EXCITED!!!
Ok, so some of you may or may not know it but I am a bird freak. I have 2 parrotlets, a sun conure and 3 quails. (You could probably make an xmas song from all the animals in my house, except I have no partridge or pear tree). So of course I am all about being informed on the latest news from crazy bird websites. This happens to be my new favorite thing -
a bird dance off! You can vote on your favorites. I wish I could directly link to the video but they don't have any of that copy and paste code stuff. Anyways, go watch it, it will make you laugh. And vote, since if you're into threadless you're probably into the whole online voting thang :)
So, this design is actually for another site. but since I've seen other ppls posting about stuff for emptees on here, i figured what the heck, you all could probably give me some advice. I'm doing vikings on a bicycle. Sort of like a longship, but more like a longbike. That's right, I'm that awesome. Unfortunately, having some issues with perspective. I will post my works in progress here.
![]() first one ![]() changed the perspective a bit. so, what do you think... should I just completely re-do it and drive myself insane? I think you need to see more of the bike for ito make sense but I don't want it to completely show from the side. Any thoughts? lols... probably a lot of you have seen this before but I just had to share :)
makes me picture him as Fabio. I mean, I've seen his pics so I know he doesn't actually look like that but somehow I feel like he looks like fabio. does anyone picture me as a little orange bird from my profile pic lol?
I went to a dentist today and they said that I would need $3,000 worth of work done - that I had 5 cavities, needed costly gingivitis treatment , and needed a crown on one of my teeth (which is also redonculously expensive). This seems a little excessive as I've been to another dentist and my teeth never were THAT bad. I mean I've had some fillings but nothing major. They told me that the old silver fillings I have are all outdated and because they shrink and expand with temp they are more likely to get cavities around them, so they want to take out the five i have and replace all of them. Oh and to top it all off I went in there for a cleaning and they didn't even clean my teeth!!! They used some laser thingy to find the cavities, which I've never seen before. I researched this later and found this leads to some "grey area" in diagnosing cavities - you don't actually have to see a cavity, this laser thingy just indicates that conditions are good.
I also find it hard to believe that all of a sudden i have all these immediate pressing problems (they dont want me to wait) when I have no pain and i've never had anything like this happen before. Granted, I havent been to the dentist in about 2 1/2 years, but this seems excessive. I need a second opinion! I am sure there are probably some things that need to be done, but i honestly hope after I see somebody else that it won't be THAT much. I am flat broke!
is finally up and running! Granted, there are probably some kinks in it that I have not looked @ yet... but I'm proud of myself for finally getting it mostly finished. The teaching and design links aren't up yet, btw, so I know that. You can order prints of my stuff too, they is 4 salez... if you likez my work then you can take a look and see what I have. I did a screen print last weekend of the
dandylion that I subbed here some time ago, which looks pretty rad... yeah if you want a print of that (on paper, not on a tee) check out my site! My site!
This is based on one of my FAVORITE Edward Lear poems.
![]() There was an Old Man with a beard, Who said, "It is just as I feared! -- Two Owls and a Hen, four Larks and a Wren, Have all built their nests in my beard. There used to be this AWESOME 60s print of this when i was a kid in my pediatrician's office. He had all kinds of cool stuff that I wouldn't mind owning, btw, such as a silver rocketship that hung from the ceiling and these funky bird sculptures that looked very dr. suessian. I have no idea where he is anymore, except that he retired. I cannot find the print of it anywhere, so I had to do a Jillustration version of it. This drawing is by no means done - I still have shading on the hat to do, birds still need some color, and maybe the beard needs highlights? Also, I am thinking maybe I should add the poem somewhere on the shirt, perhaps a bird on the back holding a note written in cursive? I'm not sure. What do y'all think? I'm gonna post this in crits later, I just want to see what everyone thinks - is it rawking as a tee, or does it need to be just a print? I am slowly growing to like it more the more I look at it :)
I've been seeing lately people using this high res nice big tee for their subs, and I've seen the same pic on more than one sub - here and here for example. It's not in the sub kit. Where are you getting that pic from and where can I get it??? Or at the very least, does anyone know of places i can get nice, high res pics of tees on which to put my designs? thank you much!
I'm looking for some good books to read. Let me say that I generally read really interesting nonfiction books, such as
Salt, Your Inner Fish, and The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill, books that will teach me something really interesting that I didn't know about, or a rather interesting and/or inspiring true story. I find true stories way more interesting than most contemporary fiction (stories about middle aged people's boring lives so they start having affairs or a midlife crisis, or some author -i.e. jodi picoult - who the first time you read them you think they are really good then you read more of them and you realize that they are writing the same book every time with only the characters and moral dilemma changed). I do like nonfiction if it's obviously never gonna happen in reality, like Harry Potter, or something sci fi dystopia, like The Road which probably won't happen but is still really interesting to think about. I hope that makes sense. Any suggestions? |
I haven't submitted any photos. I guess I don't want free money.
I'm a freelance illustrator based in Champaign Illinois. I grew up on a farm and I LOVE animals! as you can probably tell from my designs. I make a lot of my own clothes in addition to tshirt designs. Wanna know more? Look at my website or drop me a line!!
