Today was one of the few days where I saw a really nice tee I'd actually wanna buy on the front page (namely the magical Alexmdc). The other 85% of the time it's zombies or dead pirates drawn in the same extra detailed macabre style. What's up with that?

That's just emptees. It's a bit of an.... erhh...typical place.

Well, zombies and dead pirates are ok, I guess, but I get tired of seeing the same thing day after day when there's other styles that are also great. I guess people that frequent that site like that style though.

I guess that's just how it's evolved. If a shit load of Threadless people went over there and made an effort to get involved, then it would get more diverse.

Well, I just can bring myself to it any longer, unfortunately. I tried, I really did.

I don't spend any time there, but I don't mind that it's all zombies and shit. I like to put my stuff up there and see how a different crowd reacts to it.

i agree w/ tonteau. i don't think it being all zombies or whatever is necessarily a bad thing, i think there's just a lot of artists over there doing that thing. but i don't think that means they're opposed to other subjects.

I might be one of the few from threadless but I actually really enjoy the zombies and super mega detaield work a lot of the designers do over there, its something a bit different, and sorta the style I would always do before I came to threadless. and its mostly zombies, ore etc because thats the work they do for their clients etc. but you gotta look pass that and see how complicated and skilled some of the pieces are.

also thank you Jill :D

oh I'm not entirely opposed to zombies, it's just that there seems to be a disproportionate amount of zombies n stuff and I know there's more things over there that also are great.

They aren't so much opposed as uninterested.

I don't mind the zombies and gore per se. It's the allover athmosphere there that puts me of.

it's like one of those theme bars

you know your driving down the street and you find a bar and you walk in and it is decked out like the inside of a boat and the waitresses are dressed as wenches and they have the novelty thick glasses and ropes and flotes hanging from the walls and they even hired a one legged bartender who wears an eyepatch and the mascot of the bar is parrot that has spent most of it's life breathing smoke and drinking jim beam

thats emptees

also like mega detailed peices it just seems that a lot of the artists draw the same way and I like seeing variety also.

it's because last night Electric Zombie released it's winter clothing line. Emptees users and EZ customers are pretty much one in the same. I dont mind because EZ puts out some really quality designs. (though probably a bit too spooky for some)

EZ recent stuff is rad - but they have a ton of questionable "acquisitions" of other peoples work in their older stuff.

I've been waiting for someone to say this.

Gross wins out on emptees. I like a little grossness every now and then, but it's constant on that page.

yup, exactly.
threadless people should go over there and represent.
i think the site should have a variety but the voters/lovers go towards the more detailed zombies, monsters, and goblins designs because that's the majority of the posts. some of them are pretty spectacular though.
