I once saw that I had expired graham crackers but I really wanted to eat them. I didn't think they'd taste all that different.

They look pretty gross, and they feel hella sticky in the bag. I didn't even open the bag, I just put the whole thing in the garbage as I shed a tear.

I like stale marshmallows but not gooey stale, the slightly dry kind of stale where they become like the marshmallows in lucky charms.

if it happens in the future, use them in hot cocoa or make rice crispy treats with them (or fondant) or giant roasted marshmallows! sugar doesn't expire until the ants take it away. imo.

I had a friend who would only eat marshmallows once they had gone stale. She would buy a bag from the grocery store, open it and leave it open for about a week and then eat them. It made me upset.

Do not make rice crispy squares with stale marshmallows. Stale marshmallows do not soften upon cooking.

The ones I had weren't stale really... or at least not how I think of stale marshmallows. I actually enjoy stale. These were starting to change color and were all sticky and weird inside the package. The expiration date was a year ago, hahahaha. WOOPS!

hmm, i've never seen marshmallows change colors. in that case, you did the right thing.

although, tossing them in a fire place or camp fire probably would have smelled pretty good. even if you couldn't eat them. it would have been fun to watch them morph.

it's a tough call. do you keep them in the cupboard where they'll make you feel sad that they aren't good any more; or do you buy a new bag and enjoy the fresh squishy goodness? you just never know what kind of opportunities are going to arise when it comes to marshmallows. just ask the ghostbusters.

my roommate does the EXACT SAME THING! in fact, he does that with all candy. he insists it tastes better when it's stale.
