I'm a bit confused about this because last time i checked, this has absolutely nothing to do with PaRappa the Rapper. Why would you ever select a shirt like this for the contest? This is completely unacceptable and I am tired of seeing cutesy designs win these loves competitions despite the fact that they have nothing to do with the actual theme. As a fan of the game, I am personally offended. What were you thinking Threadless?

"The purpose of the submissions relating to this promotion is to create a stand-alone design inspired by the theme, not a brand tee. Your design should not have the brand name or logo on it."

The theme was ""I gotta BELIEVE!!!"" which fits this design perfectly

i dont think she was suggesting a theme or logo. Just a design that goes a little further than a quick joke, which seems to be all you have to do to win these days.

There has to be a little better effort though to match the overall theme though than just following the little line "I Gotta Believe!". Personally I would have liked to see a design at least relating to music.

I forgot to mention that this design was also chosen as the winner by the PaRappa the Rapper people.

I won't. But neither will a lot of other people who like seeing at least a glimmer of profundity in art. You have a good point shimala, this was a silly shirt to base my argument on, i didnt realize this was special comp design. I love threadless, I love what this place is about and I love the attitude that it's famous for having. But i'm worried that threadless has stopped pushing the envelope, and im worried that you have just started going with what the staple demographic demands. I understand threadless is a buisness, it needs shirts that will sell, thats a reality, but how rad is it when a company, regardless of its size or popularity, has the balls to continually take risks. I just dont want to see a thing that started out with such a sweet vision degrade into something like www.palmercash.com.

also, sorry allan, this is probably just me taking things way to seriously. and i remain a fan of your Peace and Hate design.

I agree shirshok. I used to be excited for monday to roll around so I could see the new winners, but now I only check occasionally when I have nothing else to do. Generally everything ends up looking pretty close to they same and you can pretty much predict which shirts will get printed. I guess it's cool for people who do this kind of thing, but it's definitely not for the progressive-minded artist or designer. Personally I'll probably keep subbing from time to time, but I've just accepted the fact the Threadless is more of a silly t-shirt company than a serious design community. Which isn't bad, just disappointing . . .
