It's a great book.

I just finished it.

It's not bad. Great story, great character development.. not always the best writing. We read The Handmaid's Tale for a class.

Ugh I studdied the handmaids tale and I hate it with a passion, I was in a class with three lads and most of the girls hated the book as well.

I like what its saying and what its getting at but its just so incredibly boring there is a whole chapter about her describing an egg. The part of the book I enjoyed the most was the end where we find out this is a tape recording and there are lectures about it.

Oh if your studying it heres a handy little note, the people of ham is a biblical refference which means black people. So the book is not just about the reppression of women (its main theme e.g the walking womb) but it is about the reppression of everyone outside of their society, white, christian and fertile. There is a distinct racism in the society she portays because it talks about the relocation of the ham (black people).
