wow, when i saw the title and the distant tree, i thought the past would be the roots, the present be the middle, and the future be leaves yet to come. it makes sense to me. i like the design anyway!

The artist got it right. All plants are green before they die and disintegrate into the soil.

i think it can go both ways really. a tree can come up from the remains of other plants and the tree can start get old and start to disintegrate into the soil. either way this shirt is ace

i think the design is commenting on the destruction of the planet, not giving a scientific diagram of how a tree develops.

I agree with foxinthesnow - at the moment our our word is half screwed, we take more then we put back and if we continue on the path, all tree will be dead - hence in the future.
