I was immedately attached to this illustration from the second I laid eyes on it. It seems strangely nostalgic to me, yet I don't know why! In my head I was first reminded of the movie Titus (1999) with Anthony Hopkins because the princess in this Shakespeare adaptation gets her arms cut off and then spoked with tree limbs. O_o gory image, but this shirt has been done perfectly and more nature-like.

Actually, I think the lady looks exactly like one of the ladies in old Chinese paintings (with long wavy dresses and sleeves waving in the wind). And it's such a coincidence, my dad had collected a branch some 20 years ago, and kept it ever since, because its curves look exactly as if it were one of these 'wind' ladies. So I love the comparison of the branch and the lady (even though I think the branch could have been drawn a bit more curvy)

My first thought was Titus too. Lavinia with twig arms haunts my dreams. The shirt is lovely, but I can't get past that horrifying image.
