Yesterday morning i drove into the city of San Francisco with three other friends to see the "Warhol Live" exhibit at the de Young Museum. We got there right when it opened (around 9:45...i think it opens at 10) so we didnt have a problem parking, and it was nice to escape the rain, as its rainy down here in Santa Cruz too :P

The exhibit pretty awesome. There were rooms dedicated to the beginning of andys love of "stars" (judy garland, elvis...), his music collection and album cover designs, his videos/screen tests, the silver factory, the velvet underground, studio 54, mick jagger, interview magazine....and of course his pop art :D

Overall it gave me a greater appreciation and desire to try screen printing, and although i feel that no one could become as recognizable of an artist as he was (he was like the godfather of pop art and punk music :P) , its definitely motivating to see all the great things that someone can accomplish in art. I would definitely recommend it if you live in the bay area... or if it comes a museum near you anytime soon :]

After that we picked up one of my friends at SF State (who had never taken a car into the city before) and discovered a cool little asian art/toy store called Giant Robot (which was around the corner from amoeba music-- also an awesome store)...ate at "Panchos" mexican food, went to union square, around the spiral escalators in the "Nordstrom San Francisco Centre" and got really wet in the rain :P Ineviably since it was the city we almost got in about 10 accidents (on foot and in car) but we came out safe and with no calls to the insurance company :] It was a fun trip :D
