I just finished watching the movie and I loved it! It was just completely beautiful and just so different from anything I've seen before.

Audrey Tatou was just brilliant and so beautiful! And Matthieu Kassovitz was so handsome!

Okay I should stop rambling on now. Just wanted to tell the world what a beautiful movie it was. If you haven't seen it, go see it now. If you have seen it, hope you loved it as much as I did.

Does anyone know any quirky movies like Amelie? Just love it... :)

Amelie is probably my favorite movie. Love me if You Dare is one that's kind of similar. It's French as well.

Check out A Very Long Engagement - really different story but kind of similar feel. By the same director and starring Audrey Tatou.

Oh, you must see "Delicatessen" and "La Cité des Enfants perdus" (I don't know the name in english but probably "City of lost chilren). Anyway, this 2 movies was made by the same Amelie's director (Jean Pierre Jeunet) and are for me cult movies. Delicatessen is a "chef d'oeuvre". Check it.

And 12 angry men is really amazing, THE classic.

Delicatessen is better for me because "Marc Caro" (the co-director) worked on it and not on Amelie

delicatessen is a great, if not weird movie. Amelie is one of my favourite movies of all time (I hate using that line).

Best bit for me is when she leads the blind man to the railway station and describes everything they encounter along the way. Brought me to tears.

If you like Audrey Tautou then you may enjoy The Spanish Apartment and its sequel Russian Dolls

If you like that kind of feel good romantic movie then may i suggest some great, albiet old, Australian films.

The Big Steal

Muriel's Wedding

We actually started watching it once and got maybe 5-10 minutes into the movie, had to stop for some reason, and haven't watched it since. Okay, I'm making it one of my New Year's resolutions.

I used to love watching that movie and then I left it at my Dad's house a few years back and haven't seen it since.

Back when I was really into it though, one of the movies that I associated with it was Run Lola Run. I used to watch that one over and over again too.

yes, Harold and Maude.

and I know it's not exactly obscure or a cult classic, but The Motorcycle Diaries (about Che Guevara) is very good. It's a good representation of life in South America even today.

New Waterford Girl is pretty quirky, and very funny.

and has anyone seen that movie, Les Triplettes de Belleville? Where hitmen are square, grannies eat bugs and the grand majority of people are obscenely out of proportion! A good watch.

i first saw Harold and Maude when i was 8.

I love it. You should love it.

and Amelie is amazing, I can't even get past the opening sequence with her making LPs out of batter without yelping with joy.

A big YES to Murial's Wedding. Definately on par with Amelie.

Another great, but little known movie is "Happy,Texas". Little Miss Sunshine has the same children's beauty pagent theme, but follows a different path.

"Being There" Peters Sellers last movie is an all time great. The last scene is priceless!!!

I like Big Fish and Ghost World a lot. If you want to check out some animated goodies, try Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle or the series Kino's Journey (aka The Beautful World).

Somebody mentioned Triplets of Belville... it's amazing. Hardly any dialogue, and the animation style will inspire you.
