From March 17th to the 24th I will be travelling to a place that really is out of this world. It's actually a place called Honduras, which to many of us seems like it's so far away, a distant place where they have their culture and own way of living and it doesn't affect us what-so-ever; but it does. This third world country will be a place of great growth for me as a person, and hopefully I will be able to bring something back to share with those around me.
For two days I will be going to a dump where hundreds of people live among the garbage to give them food and medical supplies and to just be there to talk if they need someone to talk to. One day will be spent in a prison, where I will be talking to the prisoners and giving them clothes and food as well. The rest of the time will be spent teaching kids in the capital city of Tegucigalpa. I just bought a bunch of crayons, so hopefully coloring will keep them occupied for a while as I try to figure out how to say anything to them in spanish. I will also be going to Costa Rica for 2 weeks during the summer, but right now I'm just focusing on my trip to Honduras. Have you ever been somewhere that's out of your comfort zone? In a far off foreign land where no one speaks your language? If not, then I challenge you to go and do something extraordinary for someone else. It doesn't have to be out of the country. It could just be in your school, your workplace, or your home. So don't say, "Oh that would be nice" and leave it at that. Say what you're going to do and then go do it!
