Phobias

Anybody have any strange phobias?
I'm afraid of heights and a little afraid of poisonous things like spiders and snakes.

I'm afraid of stickers, including the kind that goes on apples and stuff. I get completely grossed-out and disgusted and have to move away from them or not look at them. It's especially weird cause I collected stickers when I was a little kid.

I am claustrophobic, that's not exactly a strange one though. My boyfriend occasionally likes to torture me by trapping me under blankets and I hate it!

I get claustrophobic when there are too many people around me.

I have a tendency to not use people's names unless I know them well. I'm not sure if it's a phobia, but it's at least a very strong tendency.

Flour, I remember my little brother being VERY afraid of stickers when we were young. He once had to get stitches and screamed and cried for a good few days straight not from the pain but because he had to wear a band-aid on top of them. Oh, and those wal-mart greeters with the smilie face stickers were his mortal enemies.

yes EXACTLY. i used to only say my best friend's name. i think i've gotten over it. i also have a fear of mispronouncing words.

Come to think of it, I don't use people's names very often. I wouldn't call it a fear, but its definitely a tendancy

I have trouble pronouncing 'exclamation'. For some reason it always comes out as 'explanation'.

I also sometimes pretend not to know people's names, because I don't want people to think that I'm stalking them or something.

dandelion -- that's actually comforting! I thought I was crazy. I'm not as afraid as it sounds like he is/was, though I avoid wearing band-aids whenever possible. I just walk around with a wad of tissues instead :P

Bandages hurt when you pull them off. I don't like them, but I'm not afraid of them. I just don't think they're really necessary. Wounds heal by themselves.

I actually don't like band-aids either :) They feel gross and sticky and they make your cuts moist and scarry instead of letting them scab like they should.

I'm kind of afraid of answering the phone. I don't know why, but I get crazy anxiety when I have to answer the phone, unless it's my immediate family or boyfriend or a couple of close friends. Everyone else freaks me out a little. And if it is a blocked number? Fuggedabout it, straight to voicemail buddy.

I don't like answering phones either. I'm afraid that I'll forget to take the person's name or number or that I'll mis-hear it.

i like moose dinner and dandelion do not use names of people unless i know them well...i have an uncle that i have only once or twice called by name.

my biggest fear in life is having a bug in my ear...i freak out about it bi-weekly

i hate being alone, in enclosed spaces, anyway.

i could be outside alone in the woods in the middle of the night, not a problem.

just not at home, or any where else indoors.

my sister used to be deathly afraid of balloons and my gym teacher.

she cried uproariously when ever she saw either of them.

I knew a chick who was afraid of glass...yup glass. She used to joke that she would have to have all plastic dishes at her wedding.

i remember watching this show, maury, one time.

this six foot something really big guy comes onto the show-

and he says that he is deathly afraid of peach shampoo.

apparently one time he was at his girlfriend's, and he went to wash his hands, but there was no soap.

so he reached into the shower to get some shampoo to use instead, saw that it was peach shampoo, screamed and fainted.

there was also some lady who faints at the sight of mustard.

the way they breathe under water and the way their gills move. one time i started like not being able to breathe (i'm at a loss of words right now) when i was in an aquariam. it was horrible.

i dont tell people this one because its well...silly

but i have a fear of walking by cactus plants because im afraid that if i get too close that i will lose my balance or some force of gravity will throw me towards the cactus and i will fall onto the cactus plant getting needles stuck all over me

i cant stand the sound of a nail file being used against something

i dont really mind nails on a chalk board, but i cant stand the nail filer.

*shivers*

Rambunkcious, i have a 6'+ cactus in my hallway.

it was really bad in the previous apt because it had to be taken outside during the summer and in during the rest of the year.

it was always a worry that the cactus wouldn't fit through the door frame, and fall on me.

it would also fall over on windy days, and, of course i would end up picking the whole thing back up.

i dont mind my cactus

my cactus isnt particularly harmful.

it was a pain to haul it up to the third floor without having it fall over, and knock me down the stairs.

i'm afraid of that sound when you run out of eraser on your pencil and the metal scratches the paper. it hurts my teeth.

Any plant with thorns but that is because I got a rare illness from such a plant. Now I am overly cautious around roses and cacti. I am just paranoid now because this is really a rare illness.

Yeah, Don't worry too much about them. What I had the docters only diagnose about 2 people a year with. It started with a small blister at the area where I was stuck and in days was severe. It is just my little thorny plant service anouncement haha.

I am scared of being in large crowds of people I don't know (malls, theme parks, etc). I feel like I have no control and I get really nervous, and I shake and sweat and my eyes go all weird.

This is solved though if I am with a group of people I know, and I feel like I have some sort of control.

I sorta feel like that. I have noticed that I sometimes get really nervous when I sit alone in the cafeteria. But if I sit by a friend, even one, then the crowds of people don't bother me at all.
