I think it would be more efficient if Threadless were more picky about what designs they put up for voting. Even if it means I never get a submission approved again, I think it would benefit Threadless and encourage better design. There's too much crap clogging up the system. This is just my opinion.

It's democracy in action. The crap will eventually fall to the bottom. But it helps those who create "crap" get useful feedback. AndI can think of a lot of other places in society where crap needs to be unclogged first...

How can those who create "crap" get useful feedback when that's what they do...create crap? Some people just create crap, feedback or no feedback.

Way to tell what Threadless needs to do, Ms. Only Been A Member For A Month.

I think they should be just a tad more strict.

Didin't you learn form critiques in your designs? If you couldn't put them through you wouldn't learn so much. I say thanks god Threadless isn't picky!!

I was using the word "crap" because that's the word that the blog originator used. "Crap" is a subjective word. It's an opinion. I merely meant tht is someone produces what this blogger considers "crap", someone else may be able to offer helpful suggestions. I've seen it done here and I'm guessing you can to. And it's crap beyond repair, then just vote it a one or a zero and be done with it. I've seen a lot of stuff here that I consider "crap" get printed up. But that's just my opinion. Like the blogger here has his opinion.

.. or rather her opinion... sorry, didn't realize I was responding to the originator of the blog.

I think the system works okay - I like the ability for the users, and not judges behind closed doors, to decide whats good/interesting/etc, and whats not. I understand what you mean - there are a lot of designs I immediately don't like as well, but I guess I like the ability to see them anyway.

you could start a movement. stop subbing and see if other ppl who's designs are "crap" will do the same.

Nothing wrong with crap. It's like fertilizer. Talking endlessly about crap, however or making others smell it, however...
canadianbeaver

scratch one "however".

May I suggest a side of "although" or perhaps the occasional "notwithstanding" - mainly because that word makes me happy. Notwithstanding ... oh yeah, thats the stuff ...

I see your point ian, but I do think they could be, as someone said earlier, a tad bit more discerning.

I guess, since my first submission was just rejected, I'm looking at it slightly differently ... might not be super objective right now.
Julie McMillon
Julie McMillon on Feb 06 '07 at 12:58pm
Why was it rejected?
ianrose
ianrose on Feb 06 '07 at 1:00pm
They just said they felt it needed more work to be up to the standard ... kind of sad considering that I think some do slip in that I think aren't so good ... but its so subjective, I don't know.

Sorry about that. Maybe you should submit it as a critique and see what everybody says. Maybe they can give you some advice as to how to improve it. :)
tiphaine

that also assumes that there's a universal standard for "crap". i've seen comments like "foul", "shit", "zero" and so forth on subs i would wear all the time.
ianrose
ianrose on Feb 06 '07 at 1:03pm
I think that's what I'll do - get the mean comments out in the early stages.

I can see your point tiphaine. I'm just saying there has to be a threshold, and maybe there is. ;)
