This is a placeholder for me to keep track of ones I think might be in the final set of consideration. I've $5'ed a whole bunch of amazing designs (64 in total), so this contest has plenty of great printable subs. But I've narrowed down ones I think might make the judges panel...disregarding scores in general and picking out the reasons which I feel are "revolutionary" to threadless.

History Repeating - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever
Reason: Photo realistic blending of colors and shapes is amazingly subtle and gorgeous. The overall effect is super sharp.

Misplaced Divinity - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever
Reason: Full of symbolism and meaning along with insane technical skills and color options. I tend toward realism in my own designs, and this design schools the crap outta me. I hope the nega-verse one is printed, but I'd buy any of them.

Squeegee clean - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever
Reason: The anti-revolution revolution shirt, one color belt print that is genius and says "eff all those detailed designs with special inks!". It's a guaranteed print, but I think it probably won't win the revo contest because it might just be too simple.

Dog Homework - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever
Reason: We need more somni-like abstract goodness on threadless...this has it in spades and the style and colors are in-your-face hot!

And How Are You Feeling Today? - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever
Reason: "Scare your parents" good up close, plus great use of belt and traditional printing making it unique for each t-shirt, yet looks amazingly good and not so scary from a distance too. I actually think this has the highest chance of winning the contest.

The Time Traveller Sees His Own Demise - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever
Reason: How many inside-outside shirts are there on Threadless that look this good? None. Plus the concept of each side seeing a faded image of the other is so cool.

Last Stand of the Common Man - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever
Reason: A personal favorite, this has it all...a great message, mix of techniques, sweet colors and composition...a shirt I'd want to wear any time.

Flight Of The Paper Cranes - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever
Reason: Just plain gorgeous. The only drawback is, it's almost toooooo gorgeous to win the revo, but another guaranteed print for sure.

Burden to Bear - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever
Reason: This design is the epitome of random elements that look good together. It doesn't care that you "get it". It just looks good. The mix of techniques is perfect without being gimmicky.

aurum piscis - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever
Reason: If Threadless can print this amount of color and make it look this good, then it should be done. Just a visually stunning piece that pushes the color limits to the max.

Paint by Instincts - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever
Reason: Bold, abstract, big-print, unique at threadless for sure. It has the right combinations to make an impressive shirt

Uprising - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever
Reason: This shirt has very similar strengths to dhectwenty's above, but in a much more sinister way...the guy in me would probably buy this shirt before many others in this list.

A Date with Death - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever
Reason: I just think this is a badass design...soooo not cute, so not funny in any way...just badass!

Training for Utopia - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever
Reason: Like I commented in this design, kenny's first print was already revolutionary...so that's the only negative...he's competing with himself!

Yep, I don't know how one winner can be picked, but if many are printed...we are all winners (god that was corny!)

I think in leaning toward Reilly's because of all the Revo subs it stands out as different.

DBH just printed one similar to Reilly's
dacat
   dacat on Feb 08 '08 at 8:55pm
Yep, that design is similar, but Reilly's is definitely more clever tho

i don't think this is the most revolutionary sub but i think it is one of my favorites to come out of the contest in addition to some of the ones you mentioned.

Underwater - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

also, both of ladrones new subs (which can't win unfortunately) are fantastic.

Great choice jared, lupencia's is a sure print...but I agree, not as revolutionary as some of the others. I debated heavily on your sub too...it's amazing art that I would hang on my walls, but I'm a bit unsure of the eyes being where they were for a t-shirt. Ladrones, yes!

Thanks for the mention and all the kind words in the sub voting dacat. I've been dealing with some stuff on my end and haven't been to the blogs in a bit. I like yours a lot too for the contest, a lot of people took risks visually, which is about what I expected. But you were one of the few to take a conceptual risk and move beyond what just looks good. It's very important to me that artists of this time do that.

Thanks MrDomino, you are totally right about the conceptual risk...I'm definitely going to keep submitting designs that have more meaning (personally) than going for the usual high-scoring ideas.
