So yeah, this is kind of lame but whateves.

My sister likes these shoes , and I think they're okay but I also like these (more, actually);
.

Or should I get these because they're cheap (for columbia, I guess), and also the nicer (looking) brown ones? I walk a lot because the bus system scares me still, but also I'd like some shoes I can wear in the winter that don't look lame.
Also, I wear a black pea coat a lot, so would it look terrible to wear the first shoes with it (I'm thinking yes)? Or does it not matter when they're half covered in snow, anyway?

Oh, there is an extra r in there. I guess it's to make it fit in with the three letters per line thing.

Also, why do you hate me?

i like the second ones!
marblecargirl
marblecargirl on Dec 18 '08 at 7:09pm
also, i am really bad at paying attention to if things match =\
radiostaticstar
radiostaticstar on Dec 18 '08 at 7:12pm
the first one is "serious business" boot.

the second one is a "day to night, check me out" boot.

this reminds me,

i need to dig mine out as my toeses has frozes in my canvas slip-ons...
hanzabean
hanzabean on Dec 18 '08 at 7:13pm
Haha... I guess I don't care terribly much if my stuff matches, but I have nothing else to do for three weeks but worry about what shoes I'm getting, and packing for college again already.

Also I am sort of self-conscious about my footwear not matching my other clotheszes.

Also, yeah, I like the second pair too.

I'm wondering if my dad would mind buying me... TWO PAIRS of shoes, ah ah ahhh.
hanzabean
hanzabean on Dec 18 '08 at 7:15pm
haha, radio.

I need a pair of boots that will enable me to trudge up a hill every day, and walk around without getting frostbite. Also, maybe not look like a man-girl. That's a plus.
marblecargirl
marblecargirl on Dec 18 '08 at 7:15pm
TWO PAIRS FTW!
chelly
chelly on Dec 18 '08 at 7:16pm
black and brown matches fine

i'd go w/ the first shoe because they'll keep your feet warmer and don't look like they require any waterproofing

the third shoe looks like a lot of hard work

the second shoe is more feminine
hanzabean
hanzabean on Dec 18 '08 at 7:16pm

Are these terribly ugly?

I generally have to get men-shoes because my feets be huge.

Also wimmin shoez are all for riding in carriages and being carried over thresholds and stuff.
chelly
chelly on Dec 18 '08 at 7:17pm
you can make the first boot look more girlie by swapping out the laces w/ something colorful
hanzabean
hanzabean on Dec 18 '08 at 7:19pm
The second shoe is the only woman's shoe, and thusly I am drawn to it because of the rarity of me finding woman's shoes in my size.

My sis basically said, yeah the second ones look cool, but they might go out of style (not that I'm terribly concerned with that, except I probably won't get new boots for a long time after this). The first boots look well-built but might make my feet sweaty... which is better than frost-bitey.
hanzabean
hanzabean on Dec 18 '08 at 7:20pm
Oh, awesome idea chelly! I kind of love colored shoe laces anyway.

Also I'll probably try to wear my jeans/other pants over them most of the time, anyway.

i don't think the womanboots are good for actual winter activities, honestly
amaliaslash
amaliaslash on Dec 18 '08 at 7:23pm
I really like how the second ones look...do you have a link? HA my dad just offered to buy me some too and it's been hard to find winter boots that aren't butt-ugly. I tend to wear my Doc Martens but he's feeling generous and they take forever to lace up.

Here you go, Amalia!

My dad sort of is being the same way. I think it's the guilt. hehe
hanzabean
hanzabean on Dec 18 '08 at 7:26pm
Also, same here. I don't like Uggs/any permutations thereof, and that's what most woman's boots are nowadays because they're wildly popular for some reason.

chelly- yeah... At least these have a decent-looking sole, but I wouldn't want to get just these and have a pair of boots that don't work for walking in the snow or over ice or something.

i like the second pair, the dark brown. the others look like what everyone wore every day in the 90s if they didn't own Docs.
amaliaslash
amaliaslash on Dec 18 '08 at 7:28pm
Uggs kill me and I doubt they would hold up well in deep snow. I wouldn't know, though, because I never plan on owning them on account of how ugly they are!
hanzabean
hanzabean on Dec 18 '08 at 7:30pm
Haha. I wore light-up LA Gear shoes, I think. In addition to other stuff. I was pretty young there for a while.
marblecargirl
marblecargirl on Dec 18 '08 at 7:31pm
i think someone should invent light-up Uggs
amaliaslash
amaliaslash on Dec 18 '08 at 7:31pm
I like how these are cut, and they claim they are waterproof so they'd be cool for winter, but they just look so measly in comparison. I really need black stylin' winter boots, though...
hanzabean
hanzabean on Dec 18 '08 at 7:32pm
THANK YOU!

One of my three roommates just had to get a pair of them, and now I can't Ugg-bash as much as I would like before making sure she's not lurking somewhere where she could hear me. I already made fun of her boob-length jacket-shirt thing when she was like 15 feet away, on accident. like this, but worse because she's not a tiny Asian.

Okay so are the black ones a no-go? I guess if the consensus is that black coat + brown shoes doesn't look horrible I won't worry too much.
hanzabean
hanzabean on Dec 18 '08 at 7:37pm

I also considered these, but like the second pair in the opening post more.

If you have a black coat, I'd go with either black boots or a camel colour or a light shade of brown.

Girls don't seem to understand that while they may think these types of boots are "cute", guys think they are horrendous. They are called Uggs for a reason. Hopefully you don't care.

I prefer boot #1.
hanzabean
hanzabean on Dec 18 '08 at 11:29pm
Duracell- I'm never getting Uggs, so... no, I don't care. I think they are horrendous, too.

However, the white Yeti boots are pretty sweet.

Okay so I found the first pair of boots for cheaperz on another site, and they black as well as brown. So... black or brown? aagh.

I like these a lot, not so much the other ones.
hanzabean
hanzabean on Dec 20 '08 at 3:36am
Yeah, the "Jaci" ones are pretty awesome, but I walk a couple of miles a day and I need shoes that are going to last/keep my feet not frozen when I'm going to class or walking around campus because I have nothing better to do.

Maybe I'll get my mom to buy me those... hehe.
