So I want to make it... we have hot curry powder in the pantry, but I don't know if I want hot curry. Or if that is even used for curry.

Does anyone have a good recipe I can use? We're going to the store some time today or tomorrow, so there is a good chance I will make it soon thereafter.

Also, with what do you eat curry? Is it sort of a side, or can it work as an entree as well?

update! I have made curry! I will upload a picture of it in a bit, when my cakes are done or something

Mild Japanese style curry or Thai curry with coconut? So fucking delicious.

If you get the curry that's sold in boxes, in little blocks, it's easy to make and comes with instructions. Curry like that is great over rice, and you can either make it with vegetables and some sort of meat (I like chicken), or just make it vegetarian.

Koki's Curry

2 tbsp cumin

1 tsp coriander

1 tbsp 1 tsp hot chili powder

1 tbsp Garam masala ('spice mix', has black pepper/cloves etc)

1/2 tsp tandoori masala

1 tbsp ginger paste

1 tbsp garlic paste

2 tsp salt

1 1/2 cups dried onion

10 Roma tomatoes -- cubed

2 lbs chicken -- cubed

1 cup milk (or more and water or wine)

-heat on stove

-in oven @ 300 till done

(you can add green pepper or spinach)

The one tbsp of chili powder was unbearable. We now use 1/2 tsp...depends on your taste

Thanks so much!

Haha my mom would probably like 1 tbsp of chili powder but I'll opt for keeping my tastebuds.

I'll post pictures of my family's delighted faces when I make it.

Polyester Jones!!!

I made the curry! Only I couldn't find tandoori masala at either of the asian markets we went to...

Also, raw ginger + tongue = PAINNNNNNNNNN

Anyhoo... My sister said it was too spicy (I didn't measure the chili powder exactly, but it was somewhere around 1/2 of a teaspoon), my mom said that it wasn't spicy enough (and proceeded to dump about a tablespoon of regular curry powder into the curry), and I thought it was okay but a little on the spicy side.

It was very tasty though!

Also I couldn't cook it in the oven, but I used a big pot and sort of boiled it a bit just to make sure that all the chixens were dead and stuff.

Oh yay! I'm glad you made it!

Where you looking in Asian markets, or Indian markets? 'Masala' just means spice mix, so I guess you could substitute any sort of spice mix, or just leave it out.

Sounds good!

It was an Asian market; I don't think we have an indian market anywhere near here.
